Upgrade MB

Its the correct socket motherboard if that's what you mean but they are pre order so no one has used them yet.

Cutting edge can sometimes have issues on release and need firmware updates to fix bugs; you might be able to find reviews on youtube etc if they sent samples out but no one on here will have used them.

You might also want to change your RAM to something faster / XMP3 someone else might be able to advise.

Do they ship with a CPU cooler, otherwise thats something else to add to the shopping list?

£300 for a mobo plus £380 for a cpu because you want more USB ports and SPDIF does seem a bit steep if you are otherwise happy with your current setup.

A PCIE USB card and external sound card might be another option, or even an old fashoined USB drive bay if it will fit in your case; but I think you have the upgrade itch and just want something shiny which is fine if its what you want its your money at the end of the day.

If you do go with it maybe post some benches / a review as you will be one of the first on the new socket.

The vast vast expensive of £17

Another model with 7 ports £60 or so.

+ a sound card or external DAC and still save many hundreds...

I think OP just wants something new to play with, the new intel boards are still under embargo so there's only a few youtube vids saying they should be on par with 14th gen but more power efficient there won't be any benches until the embargo lifts.

dont want to put another devices in the motherboard its not having so good VRM .... only 8 phases at 40A ....

i dont want to stay current setup ... i want to change because MB not having future upgrades its stuck on only 7000 series, and 9000 series not worth , 9800X3D to expensive when appear if the price its that who appear now on internet, and i want a good cpu also for video editing and streaming and for that core 7 ultra 265k seem best price performance ... at this time

and offcourse i wait to seet real benchmarks and test after 24 octomber ....

Neither CPU's have been released yet so no one knows how they perform and the prices I've seen for 9800x3d are just speculation at the moment, theres supposed to be an AMD reveal around the same time intel lifts their embargo so we might know more about AMD pricing soon.

No ones saying you shouldn't buy a new system, people are just giving options because you already have a capable system; theres no such thing as future proofing there will always be something faster / better along in 12 months and with the exception of some shortage you always make a loss when selling old kit.

I need a new PC and its interesting times but graphics cards are still expensive and despite speculation earlier in the year NVIDIAs new cards haven't appeared and won't be revealed until CES 2025; PC gaming has become very expensive you can drop more than a £1k and still only have an entry level system.

ok, too many trolls, i want a ADMIN to lock or delete this thread
Don't think anyone is trolling but they know there are much cheaper ways to add USB and SPDIF.

You haven't posted your GPU details so you might get better bang for buck on other upgrades as well.

My PC is a potato and I need to do a complete new build but I remember going to a computer fair years ago and buying the latest CPU and Mobo, as I handed over my cash the vendor wished me luck!

It's always been a gamble when buying the latest tech there can be firmware bugs, issues with RAM etc... so yes I'm genuinely interested in how a core 7 system is going to perform against AMD equivalent but if you aren't willing to accept that there might be teething issues with a new platform you should wait a couple of months before buying into it.

Most interesting thread I read in couple of days. This place is full of people with knowlage that can save you few £££ yet people still refuse to belive it. Amazing, why not just say, I got money burning hole in my pocket I want to buy the latest. Then correct advise can be given, hardly belive anything to do with USBs and audio outputs ect.

Adding OP to my ignore list - way too immature and refuses to listen to some really solid advice from forum members.
Wait till you see his other thread

I'm half convinced the OP is a wind up merchant at this point, I don't even know why he's here given his attitude.

@OP: If it's just a case of wanting to play with new toys, then go ahead and buy whatever you want. Just don't expect anyone on here to validate what in reality is a very poor purchasing decision on your behalf, you clearly have zero intention of listening to anyone and we're not about to fill the forum with subpar advice when others might come across it and follow suit.

I have.

I have. OP isn’t one for listening and comes across as very immature.
