Been struck down by some virus, so not been able to even have a look until now.
Thoughts:
It's louder than OG PS5, not unbearable though. No coil whine. The fan seems to spin up at the same speed as soon as you launch any title, so there's definitely scope for fan profile updates.
It's amazing how much smaller it is compared to OG PS5. Installing the M.2 SSD with my games from my OG PS5 and the elusive disc drive was painless. Disc drive is quieter than my OG PS5 drive. I love that the disc drive has its own eject button, in white! No more accidentally pressing the power button when trying to eject a disc! Worth £800 alone.
Horizon Forbidden West - This looks like a next gen game. The level of detail in Pro mode whilst keeping 60FPS, had my mouth open, it's the most impressive thing I've seen so far.
TLOU Part 2 - Again looks incredible
Alan Wake II - Looks amazing, though I have seen some raise about foliage looking a little off after the patch. I've not long finished Part 1, but I may wait and see if a further update is released for part II.
Stellar Blade - Looks fantastic
I'm seeing a lot of non-enhanced titles which are bearing good uplifts in terms of performance and the lovely bonus of resolution scaling, which has titles holding higher resolutions where the PS5 couldn't.
Elden Ring - runs flawlessly on a VRR TV in high quality mode
Metaphor: ReFantazio - is now butter smooth 60FPS
Overwatch 2 - Looks better, clearly running at a higher resolution
Diablo 4 - Still awaiting patch, but looks better
Speaking of patches and enhancement badges, it's very cheeky that games are being listed on PS Store as being PS5 Pro Enhanced, when the patch hasn't been released yet.
I'm using a 42" C2, viewing distance just over 1 metre and I think overall, this is an impressive release. I think the PS5 Pro is a bigger deal than what various media and YT channels are making out to be. It's getting a lot of flack, mostly due to the price. But I think this is an expense that most of the PS5 user-base aren't going to appreciate or have the appetite for. But what it has delivered in this very early stage has really impressed me. Looking forward to seeing other titles get updates and the fruits it'll bring.
