I like the previous 7-series ref design that's all black with red accents much better. That said, for me, it can looks like a pile of rocks as long as it cools the card.

Chiefly its the price for me. Cooling it seems to be adequate these days, build quality hopefully better than some gens. Close to the 7800xt as possible (in price only), yes!

And hopefully, no bush-league QC issues like not filling the vapor chamber. It was quite disappointing getting a 7900xtx on launch just to find out it had to go back for RMA a day later. And no peak spikes like on the 6900s would be appreciated.

I've already decided if 1) it performs near a 7900xt/4080 raster, 2) 4080-level RT, 3) it's priced at or below £600, 8800xt will be my next card as that's Goldilocks for me.
 
7070xt, interesting change and and also interesting that rdna4 has no 80 or 90 series, so probably its competition is the 5070 or 5070ti

Seems to me like they're ending RDNA with 9000 series GPU's and UDNA will start fresh with a totally new numbering scheme, cant see UDNA being 10000 series, will be too long for a GPU name using 10k. (Lets leave the long assed model numbers to PC Monitors :D )

I'm just hoping prices will be sensible from launch, below £500 for the top card seems sensible to me, anybody thats thinks they should be higher has totally lost their mind.
 
I think it's a pretty safe bet that AMD will never have a **90 card :D :p
They kinda did with the 6900XT but blew it by not launching it with the 6950XT TDP and clocks. But I do hope that UDNA is a successful venture for them at the high end. Considering how their CDNA team has been able to match Nvidia's hardware almost blow for blow in the datacenter with the MI series GPUs, recombining the two teams together should yield better results than now.

Unfortunately for AMD's data centre GPU's, there is a bit of a difference between claimed and actual performance. But it's understandable as there are many more variables to benchmarking these things, it's not as easy as starting windows and loading up a game. That example would be the equivalent of benchmarking a Nvidia GPU with DLSS on vs an AMD GPU running native and claiming that the Nvidia GPU is 2x faster, it's not exactly an honest comparison. The AMD GPU could run its own optimisations and that would again bring them ahead of Nvidia in those respective benchmarks.

That's very narrow performance testing and it reads more like Nvidia cope marketing for their investors.

The most powerful super computer on earth has AMD GPU's, not Nvidia, the people who build these billion $ computers don't take their advice from forbs.
