What motherboard for 9800x3d and RTX5080

Looks like there's some X670/E motherboards that have 6x SATA ports. So there are some around with that chipset at least. For the X870E, there's only the Taichi boards with 6x SATA onboard.

But if you're going for an AM5 board, you may want the newer X870E boards, as they have been designed with better "stuff" (design, planes, layout, etc) so more stuff work off the bat vs the X670/E boards (which may not work or not work as well, primarily the RAM I'm thinking of right now, but there could be others too).

I'm also looking for a board to go with a 9800X3D and 5080 if I'm lucky enough to get one... would the Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WIFI be a bad choice?

OC don't appear to have many boards in stock at the moment.
The E-E is much better than the E-F for an extra £20 or so more

Take away all the marketing being and names. Buy the board with the interfaces you actually need. The up sell of power phases had long gone.

Essentially though, PCIE 5.0 x8 is the exact same speed as PCIE 4 x16

So if somehow the 5090 saturates PCIE4 x16 then it will need more than PCIE 5 x8
I didnt know that, good to know! Will be interesting to see if anyone tests pci speeds due to lane sharing on many mobo. Lots of mobo say this in the manual i think its not the easiest to find on product pages

IF I get a 9800X3D (unknown at this stage) I'll be looking at the Asrock B850 Steel Legend, looks like it'll be a solid option as the B650 variant was well received (I'd happily consider that but stock has dried up).

What’s brexit have to do with anything when these are made in the far east?

As far as I’m aware those in the EU pay even higher prices than we do here in the UK.
You're wasting your time. I live half in the US these days and if you take the VAT, warranty, etc. factors out of the equation, the prices are comparable and the benefits swing either way US/UK depending on supplier/manufacturer location. I also spend time in the EU and you're right, PC tech prices are generally higher, especially in poorer countries* for some reason. (*Some exceptions to this.)

Brexit has had an effect, I'm not kidding myself that it hasn't, but most have got on with it and have moved on, including companies. It's a new norm. There are more important factors at play currently and in the near future.
