*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Remember the usual amount of salt. But we got, according to this youtuber, some internal benchmarks directly from AMD. If true the price has never been more important. IF true then AMD seems to have returned to form by giving flagship class(AMD's flagship) performance in a 70 class card like we use to get.

All the credible rumours and leaks have always hinted at minimum 7900 XT raster and 4070 Ti RT. The fact it may be 10% faster than that was always in the realms of possibility. Even before these leaks I had always been saying the usual generational uplift of ~30% would mean a 7800 XT replacement would be at least 7900 XT performance or better. I wasn’t being super astute or anything, just applying the usual 30% average uplift to the other existing tier (7800 XT)

If the 9070 XT is genuinely closer to the 5070 Ti than expected and the 9070 kicks the crap out of the 5070, then no wonder AMD pulled their announcement on price and performance of RDNA4.

Nvidia giving a 15% - 20% uplift is essentially half the usual generational improvement. They are relying on the promise of AI to bring the tangible performance improvements. If AMD get these out before Nvidia and at the expected prices, they will be a game changer for AMDs mindshare.

When you read GPU recommendation threads on Reddit, everyone seems to be aiming for their given resolution but ultra settings for 3-5 years minimum which then gets them recommendations of the likes of a 4099 for a first PC build.
Personally I've always optimised a game that gives maximum performance without degradation of graphics fidelity. To me, save yourself some cash and upgrade sooner to newer tech.

At the time of writing it looks more and more like AMD's CES keynote was a clever play. People are still excited about what the 9070/xt will turn out like, while at the same time deflated by the 5000 series.

Although I'm getting a bit bored of saying "it depends on the price"

I watched it a moment ago. This is very interesting if your getting close to 4080 for just over half the price? As you say they really need to price this one well and it could be big.

Another ticket for me please (choo choo). That said, instead of lubing for the 5080 this might be a decent interim to see if next years refreshes bring and UDNA ahead of that, it would certainly save a few hundred quid... decisions.

Is this seat taken?

I'm in the same boat (train?). By default I was in for a 5080 (coming from a 3080) but it looks a bit pants so far. You probably won't get much change out of £1200 (FE I wouldn't even bother trying to get) for one, and there is an element of voting with my wallet in this gen. I'm not expecting the 9070xt to be close to a 5080 in terms of performance, but in price/perf it will almost certainly outdo it - just depends by how much.

Lol, but ironically it’s not because AMD are over delivering on performance, it’s that Nvidia are under delivering and hop No AI will be the next big thing in gaming.

Yeah I know but at least this somewhat looks like it's giving good value what we've had for years

Same boat/train here and why I'm still watching this release with interest. Especially for the price to performance ratio. I was really looking to the 5080 but at that price, it's a swerve from me.

I was never gonna spend 5080 or 5070ti money, and have 3080 I wanted minimum close to 4080 / 7900xtx performance and 4070ti super RT seems fine , upscaling seems to be improved a lot and 16gb vram I don't care for Frame generation and this thing should be great at 1440p

Now it's down to pricing

Yep 3090 here, there is eight seats left in this carriage... so anything below a regular 4080 is hardly worth it (definitely wasn't worth the £1200 outlay two years ago) from nvidia. With the better upscaling I can handle another year or so and may just replace my monitor instead of dumping north of £800 for a 50 series even though the AI stuff is useful for other work.

People seem to be getting excited at every rumour of higher performance. I just see the price going up if true.

If they pull this again with high price I wont be considering.

I've got a 3080FE as well and looking to see what AMD brings. If the 9070XT can match a 4080 for less than £600 then I'm in. I know people are expecting sub £500 pricing but it's hard to see that when performance seems to be around 4080 level and the card has 16GB. FSR4 looks to be incredibly good which is the real bonus since I'm hoping we can mod in FSR4 into any game that already has DLSS.

@RavenXXX2

If those charts are accurate this will be a brilliant 4k card, lowering settings to High from Max gives very little visual compromises but vastly improves performance this could be an amazing 4k 144hz card.

Honestly if AMD price this right I think i'm going to go with a 9070XT this time round, I was going to get a 5080 but i'd rather save the money and upgrade my CPU a little sooner. I also think the 5080 may struggle to hold up over time with only 16GB Memory, yes this also applies to the 9070 but that will be a significantly lower price.
