Which old games are still fun to play now?

There is a guy I watch on YouTube who covers a lot of RPGs. He focuses on older RPGs as well as modern games which are in a similar spirit. Well worth a watch.

Final Fantasy VIII is still decent (currently playing remaster on PS4).
Age of Empires 2 is king - The 2019 remaster adds some extras but the core game and look is the same.

Freespace 2 is space combat but still great fun.

Age of empires 2 (The remaster works great and is still getting genuine new content)
Simcity 2000/3000 (GoG / EA releases work fine in windows 11)
Dungeon keeper(keeperFX)
Transport tycoon (openttd)
Theme hospital (CorsixTH)
Command and conquer (remastered collection is amazing)

I still replay Dungeon Keeper 1&2. There are HD mods etc but the gameplay still rocks.

You can get 2 to play without crashing? I could only get to about level 8 in the campaign even on a windows 7 build and it would auto crash from that point.

As well as the C&C games already mentioned, the StarCraft games as still brilliant, recently started SC Remaster.

it is available on pc however it was not as good on pc as on the Amiga so I just use winUAE to emulate the Amiga and play the "proper" version.
alternatively you can play the mega drive version and play it 2 player online using Fightcade. During lockdown Fightcade was a life saver for me and some mates

it's my birthday tomorrow and a mate got me Renegade for the spectrum. it looks brand new.

technically the speccy is a PC but not sure it is what OP had in mind.

Company of Heroes from 2006, plays online via Steam really good in 2025! Rated 10 - out- of-10 in certain reviews, from the time. Best of the three games. Better than COH 2 and 3, combined.

Time for my ritual plug of Jagged Alliance 2 1.13. One of, if not the best turn based action rpg's in existence. Can be bought for peanuts.

I play the Gog version which patches a lot of the issues.

KOTOR and Dragon Age Origins, I cannot recommend these 2 enough. Fantastic games at the time and still amazing games.
