Not even sure it's for that - I thought that was what the AI Port was :D

I read this as more like a chatGPT for your NVR

If I understood it correctly, it does act like an AI Port but not in real-time as it processes the footage to add that in.

Then you have image upscaling etc... and as mentioned above, it has contextual searching.

I think it's a decent, albeit pricy box. Probably not suitable for spying on your neighbours/bin men, ie home setup, but would be ideal for a workplace.

Much like the rest of Ubiquiti's products the documentation is somewhat lacking :D

This document makes a few references:

What types of cameras are compatible with AI Key?
AI Key pairs with all Protect cameras that support smart detections, including: * G4 Series * G5 Series * AI Series * Cameras connected via AI Port

How does Face and License Plate Recognition work with AI Key?
AI Key adds face and license plate recognition for Protect G4/G5 cameras, with a higher capacity than AI Port. However, AI Port offers real-time processing, while AI Key's results depend on queue length.

I don't use Ubiquiti for CCTV, but that queue length comment along with the low end CPU and 1000 detection per hour doesn't sound good.

I've used both Intel CPU and low end Nvidia GPUs for AI on my CCTV as I want near real time processing results so they can be used for automations and warnings. I generally get one analysis in 15 to 80ms (avg ~35ms from 4K cameras) depending on complexity and model used, and to improve accuracy often analyse several images per event so speed is important. However 1000 per hour for the AI key is one every 3600ms and even if that is pessimistic which would be a first for Ubiquiti, then that is really slow.

If the delay is too long then its only good for historic searching which is what is most commonly shown in the various videos. AI for CCTV is a game changer and I use it for everything from external light control to announcing deliveries, people, vehicles etc but this relies on rapid results. I really like the features shown for the AI Key but they need a more powerful variant.

As above, I have a handful of them and they work well without some of the restrictions of the original mini flex switch.

Worth the extra £20 over some of the stuff on Amazon?
It is about perspective I guess. Will another switch do the job, absolutely. Will it look as nice, subjectively No. Will it integrate with Unifi, No. Is it worth an extra £20 for me, definitely yes!

The unifi switch just harmonises in the controller, all the ports are labelled etc.

And for me that doesn't really matter, as i won't be integrating it with UniFi etc, just a plain dumb switch on the end of a Flint 2.
