When did these come out?

Totally missed the boat with all my 5090 chaos,

But they're available from a few places.

Make sure your drivers are properly installed and others removed so you don't have colour bitrate issues on your display (an issue I was running into) and was user error and not the display.

Going to change to MSI?

Hmm not sure. I know it’s silly but I do like the ‘I’m not there’ auto turn off feature on the ASUS as my windows go to sleep function struggles - because of the HDI processes of my speakers :o

Also there’s a lot of promises from ASUS re: OLED safety stuff/anti flicker.

But - work monitor is MSI 27” so these would pair

Is it much of a muchness @badass or is there any clear winner in your view? Sorry to nag you on something else :D

P.s. just had some surgery so I’m totally out of gaming for at least 4 weeks >< so I can wait.

Auto turn off is useful :)

wish I had it already, as I do disappear throughout the day with the monitor on.

Sorry to be so lazy as to ask, browsing hard at the mo, but does the MSI have this? I can’t remember… other than me thinking that it was a pro for the ASUS. I may be mistaken.

Disabling DSC is another essential for me as if you don’t clamp it monitors (my existing MSI one) can be a little funny with deciding whether to use it in my experience. Not sure if the MSI has this option - might not be an issue with this model anyway.

I don't think so :) but tbh I just bought it for the size/resolution after seeing I could grab one :)

@Personality+ dont forget to order a 2m cable if it doesn’t come with one.

HWU’s monitor channel recently went over the new 2m cables and I’ve ordered and got a certified one (the product in the vid) ready to go for £20, not bad!

I bought

Ubluker 16k 8k DisplayPort 2.1 Cable 80Gbps - 2 metres

I already owned one so got another, hopefully it's all good.

Wow looks like it’s available to order already. I currently have the ASUS one preordered but that’s going to be a month.
Oh yeah I see it at one uk retailer. Can’t see it anywhere in the US which is normally quicker to get new releases than the UK.

Not had chance to properly test the MSI yet. Would have done so by now normally, but have been away for an extended period so unable to receive new units for review until I’m back. I’d expect both to be very good solid choices tbh

@Personality+ sounds good! In the unlikely event you get random black screens in game or issues when you alt tab, it may be dsc related - if you find my recently thread in the project hardware forum for my build towards the end I start documenting my issues on this.

Again, unlikely to be an issue for you as it would be pretty ridiculous to deal with this whilst using DP2.1! :)

Edit: I had a look at the MSI manual and it does seem like there’s an ability to disable DSC so you should be good

Yup 5080 with a 360hz+ 1440p OLED is the best option for anyone that doesn’t want to spend money on a 5090.

Having mulled it over a bit more and watched some of the limited reviews that are available, I thiiiink I’m going to stick with my ASUS preorder. There isn’t much in it: both monitors seem to have the same HDR compromises. From what I can tell, ASUS’s colour accuracy is superb (as it was last year) and I do like the thought of the auto ‘screen off feature. Not an essential thing as I will have a seperate work monitor and this is for gaming / browsing only… no risk of burning in Slack :p

But damn, the OCD tendencies to have two monitors of the same brand and same stands does rattle me >< :o
