Henry feels just as useless as at the start of KCD, which seems a bit odd, considering he was a semi knight in the last one - but I guess they couldn't have him start that highly ranked or it would make the game a walk over

I wish the save system was a bit better. I go and explore die and end up ages back. It’s frustrating they should add a quick save.

I feel it adds an element of danger, so you end up having to treat situations with care, weigh up the pros/cons and chance of success. In the first 10-15 hours of play, you can easily get taken down by just 2 enemies - so there's been times when I've just legged it, or decided to come back to a camp later.

In one side quest in KCD2, a drunken Huntsman asks you to get his horse back from a bandit camp - at that point I was pretty low level and had basic kit; but I did have a dagger! I used the wait feature to scroll to 1AM, then snuck into the camp and did them in, whilst they slept lol

I'm now at a point where I buy (or steal) the saviour schnapps whenever I can, so have a decent stash on me to save when I feel a situation might go awry. Don't get me wrong, I did mess up and lose nearly an hour of play - but I didn't mind too much, just had to backtrack a few things.
 
I’m still at the old lady’s house at the beginning. I have been looking for my dog and generally get killed by anything I find…..lol

I was hoping not to bother with the dog, I didn't use him in the first game - but he's actually pretty helpful, and I found him by accident when exploring; wasn't at all prepared to save him though as I had lightweight sneaky kit on!

25 hours in now, still haven't touch the main quest line - there's plenty do do around me, but I might have a dabble on the main stuff tomorrow.

LOVE the crossbow though, got one that does 300 damage, and bolts that do 110 - so one is usually enough to stop an unarmoured target and have them limp off or give up the fight!

Found some Cumins too - they battered the stuffing out of me, even in full battle dress :eek:

Like the first game,
You die a lot in the beginning because your character needs some experience etc. you get way stronger by the mid to late game.

Edit. Finished the first game yesterday. Looking to start the second this afternoon. Never got the dog in the first game either !

I downloaded the first game again will try again. Might use a guide to help me through the early stages this time. See how I get on. Coming to the end of Persona 3 after 70 hours so I fancy something different anyway.

Having played the first through 3 times - I never really mastered the swords or combos, just used to keep stabbing lol. Bows and stealth were where I spent skills and time - I kind of wanted to recreate Garrett from the original Thief games, so I probably died a lot of times!

I think the dog was in an expansion for the first game, I recall seeing him chilling in the Mill near Rattay, but I left him there - now that I think about it, I never played the add on where you played as Theresa.... might have to give that a go at some point

As it's been out for ages, there's probably some cracking guides out there - maybe a RDR2 style interactive map too, showing where to find loot.

In my first play of KCD I found some soon to be released armour in a chest, on the very edge of the map, so had a decent full knight kit pretty early - sadly Warhorse patched it some time after and I lost it, but it certainly gave me a leg up at the time.

A couple of my mates tried the game several times - and funnily both sacked it off at the first lock picking test. They used guides and all sorts, but couldn't do it, so got frustrated and just put the game down. A real shame imo - as all you need to do, is to learn to 'swoop' the sticks around at a similar pace, and as with anything in this series - practice over and over! I used to sneak into houses to just unlock chests, or even just the front door - given time you'll get perks that make it easier and easier.

You say that, I found a top armor set in a Skalitz forest, in some random unmarked grave (you need a shovel) it contained a chest piece worth 2.6k groschen and an Italian bascinet which I think is the highest helmet you can buy. Edit. It contained the whole set but those are the two pieces I remember off top of my head

I found it by chance when doing that quest to find father Simon !

Swords just become a jumbled mess for me. I’m definitely going to go with either bows or crossbow just need to find one first….lol.

I got to the old lady’s house and have just been wandering around exploring and getting killed lots. I need to follow some of the quest really.

Went down last night, while I was playing COD. I think it's been over 12 hours now and they haven't really said anything about the cause or ETA for fix.

Sooo. I've always preferred to buy discs, so I don't actually know, but does the PSN being down presumably mean people can't play digital only games?
