NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

To be honest Nvidia is the most in the wrong. Their tactics have enabled shops, distributors and "lone traders" to scalp, purchasers to sell for massive gains, buyers to pay loads more on market places, users to be frustrated with massive waiting ques, RRP prices to raise to egregious levels.

Yet we all (including me) reward them with our money. Were all to blame collectively, along with AMD GPU division who just purposely make bad decisions at every turn.

I've just decided to touch grass for a few months until they're freely available at non-inflated prices. If that means getting close to the summer months, I'll just wait for the inevitable refresh.

There is no point in wasting time checking for stock when the drops are so infrequent and the few that do drop are usually well above MSRP. To get an FE when the next ones drop, you'd have to be refreshing the page at the same time to have any chance against the bots.

If you got a Astral LC you can make an extra £5000 it seems , was one listed on Ebay recently which sold for over £8000 .... in what world is a gaming gpu worth paying nearly 10k for :confused: honestly the people buying these are thick as excrement and clearly need their head looking into:rolleyes:

Chances are it didn't actually go for that price. If an offer is made and accepted, Ebay does not update on the actual sale price but defaults to the listed price. That being said, the original listing started from over 10k, so I suspect someone still paid at least double the retail price for it.

From what I can see it went for £8086, if it was a best offer accepted it normally has a strike through on the original price but looks like he didn't even offer a best offer just a buy it now price which is what it sold for ....

Around pricing and value, i always thought this hobby was really good value. £10 per week was a new top gpu or cpu upgrade per year. I always knew i would pay more. The price rises from nvidia the last few gens have eaten into that value. I don't mind paying them, as at least some of the cash is paying r&d, wages, taxes. I will not buy from a scalper, as they just prey on fomo (desperation) or benefit the rich and bring no value to the chain. If i pay the scalper the extra, all that money is theirs. The only skill they brought to the table was buying something quicker than another who genuinely wants one. Without the scalper, the item would still exist. I don't want to reward such a low level skill practice. I am a collector and have had to put up with scalpers for a long time. They really do kill the hobbies for the average person.

I see it's getting super spicy over at the auction site. A few sellers with listings for just-over RRP price for 4090s and 5080s that look legit at first glance. Read the fine print and delivery is not estimated until Apr-May, so basically a preorder.

I wouldn't touch buying (or selling) from an auction site with a 10-ft pole at this point. Get your stuff from a trusted reseller.

Edit: Re-looking at the listings and it's even shadier and more ridiculous. Sellers are essentially listing their used 4090s on preorder for when they expect to have their 5090 in hand. What a world.
