$580 would mean £560 in the UK currently.An RX7900XT is 30% faster than an RX7800XT.So that means 11.4% better price/performance than an RX7800XT at launch.
If the RTX5070 is around RTX4070 Super levels of performance it would be 3% better price performance than an RX7800XT at £480.
The RX7800XT was 47% faster than an RX6700XT for a 5% increase in RRP($500 vs $480).But also remember the RX7800XT,RX7900GRE and RTX4070 Super street prices dipped below £500 last year. The RX7900XT has dipped below £600 last year and has 50% more VRAM. The RTX4070TI also dipped below £600 last year.
All the people going,but,but relative to Nvidia pricing it is better is not a good scenario. Relative pricing is pointless metric to care about because it needs one overpriced card to mess things up.
10% price/performance improvement over the last generation(or even worse) is useless. Another generation to skip then.
TSMC 4NM but that is an enhanced 5NM class node.
True but most of the time improvements in the node typically come in the form of higher clock speeds and/or increased power efficiency.
Personally I'm expecting the worst then i won't be disappointed.
They will price relative to Nvidia again. But Nvidia now pushing the RTX5070 back means they can do the same relative to AMD.
This is what happened with the RX5600XT,when the RTX2060 had a sudden price drop and AMD had to rush out new BIOSes for the RX5600XT!

This is Canada though I can see a 700 card being around 650 in the US I dont think they get a 1 to 1 like we do.Predictions many of us have made seem to be on point if these prices hold true:

Canada Computers reveal RX 9070 pricing, but how accurate it is? The first retailer in Canada has listed upcoming PowerColor and XFX graphics cards based on the RDNA4 architecture. The listings were shared on the AnandTech forums and picked up by Tomasz Gawroński, but it appears the retailer...videocardz.com
9070 xt: $700 (low model) - $865 (high model)
9070: $580 (low model) - $660 (high model)
Not brilliant for cards that should essentially perform like a 4070 and a 4080 respectively.

There are uarch changes and RDNA3 did have some issues too. But at the very least we should be getting an RX7900XT level performance from the RX9070XT. The RX7900XT is between an RTX4070TI and RTX4070TI Super.
If it gets to the RTX4070TI Super levels,it shouldn't be too far behind an RTX5070TI.

The RX7900XT is about 30% faster than an RX7800XT,so even if the uarch was the same it would get close to an RX7900XT looking at the specifications.
The bigger issue is pricing IMHO. I just hope AMD don't try to price it relative to scalper pricing. I remember that happened during the Pandemic and I found an RTX3060TI FE for around £100 cheaper than an RX6700XT. I wanted an RX6700XT!
People have to understand the Pandemic is over and all we are having is artificial scarcity to push prices upwards. Best for people to not bother buying from both companies if they try more price fixing IMHO!

I don’t really understand why AMD didn’t just release the specs and performance figures for their GPUs at CES (but keep pricing a mystery) and then stick to a launch date of March, instead completely withholding all information as is the case now.
I agree, they aren’t very good prices at all if correct, just not terrible. While we can try to convince ourselves and everyone else that they shouldn’t be compared to Nvidia. We need to accept that is exactly how they will be judged, because AMD GPUs don’t exist in a bubble.
A 9070XT about 15% better price to performance than a 5070Ti is not great, just not terrible when judged in that context.

Well unfortunately that is how cartels work - I am quite happy to wait TBH. If not the RX9060 and RTX5600 series will be a POS. If the prices are like this, it will be one of the worst generations in the last decade - Turing might even be better!
The PS5 PRO is probably RTX4070/RX7800XT level performance and is slowly moving towards £600. We can't be literally having RTX4070/RX7800XT level performance at £400 to £500. The RTX4000 series was already a huge performance stagnation at mainstream and AMD was late to the fight which further didn't help.That would mean you would have to spend close to £1000 or more on a PC to beat a console,which itself is considered overpriced.
Almost everyone I know doesn't spend £600,let alone £1000 on graphics cards. Steam itself shows most of the top 10 cards are priced under £500. I can see most of my mates not bothering TBH.
If these cards start at almost £600,AMD marketing is not targetting the mainstream. Nvidia itself is also in fantasy land and Steam shows this by the RTX4060 being their most common card.
JHH thought gamers had £10000 PCs.
