The 9070 is looking well beyond a 4070 performance to be fair.
At $580 and $699 and the rumoured performance, the 9070 and 9070 XT are just OK and at least giving improved price to performance. Nothing special at all but better than the 5070 and 5070Ti by about 15% in price/perf.
its also on TSMC 3nm and they could have made improvments in rdns 4 compared to rdna3 dont think its as simple as going by cores and clock speeds only
True but most of the time improvements in the node typically come in the form of higher clock speeds and/or increased power efficiency.
Personally I'm expecting the worst then i won't be disappointed.![]()
This is Canada though I can see a 700 card being around 650 in the US I dont think they get a 1 to 1 like we do.Predictions many of us have made seem to be on point if these prices hold true:

AMD Radeon RX 9070 series briefly listed by Canadian retailer: RX 9070 XT at $697 USD, RX 9070 at $586 USD - VideoCardz.com
Canada Computers reveal RX 9070 pricing, but how accurate it is? The first retailer in Canada has listed upcoming PowerColor and XFX graphics cards based on the RDNA4 architecture. The listings were shared on the AnandTech forums and picked up by Tomasz Gawroński, but it appears the retailer...videocardz.com
9070 xt: $700 (low model) - $865 (high model)
9070: $580 (low model) - $660 (high model)
Not brilliant for cards that should essentially perform like a 4070 and a 4080 respectively.
If accurate that's...
A 6.66% increase in cores and 22% increase in clock speeds over the 7800 XT
A 20% decrease in cores and 32% increase in clock speed over the 7900 GRE.
A 23% decrease in cores with a 19% increase in clock speeds over a 7900 XT.
With those sorts of changes i can't see it getting close to the performance of a 5080, it may even struggle to get close to a 5070 Ti.
That would be nice but as I'm a pessimist I'm not holding onto much hope. There are uarch changes and RDNA3 did have some issues too. But at the very least we should be getting an RX7900XT level performance from the RX9070XT. The RX7900XT is between an RTX4070TI and RTX4070TI Super.
If it gets to the RTX4070TI Super levels,it shouldn't be too far behind an RTX5070TI.

I agree with you and I am not buying until my gpu stops playing games at my desired fps and quality settings. The RX7900XT is about 30% faster than an RX7800XT,so even if the uarch was the same it would get close to an RX7900XT looking at the specifications.
The bigger issue is pricing IMHO. I just hope AMD don't try to price it relative to scalper pricing. I remember that happened during the Pandemic and I found an RTX3060TI FE for around £100 cheaper than an RX6700XT. I wanted an RX6700XT!
People have to understand the Pandemic is over and all we are having is artificial scarcity to push prices upwards. Best for people to not bother buying from both companies if they try more price fixing IMHO!
$580 would mean £560 in the UK currently. An RX7900XT is 30% faster than an RX7800XT.So that means 11.4% better price/performance than an RX7800XT at launch.
I agree, they aren’t very good prices at all if correct, just not terrible. While we can try to convince ourselves and everyone else that they shouldn’t be compared to Nvidia. We need to accept that is exactly how they will be judged, because AMD GPUs don’t exist in a bubble.
A 9070XT about 15% better price to performance than a 5070Ti is not treat, just not terrible when judged in that context.
I would be happy with that.I am sticking to the 'as fast as a 4080 in raster' prediction made from then 9070XT benchmark run at CES and the chiphell leak.
