Which iPhone 16 will you be getting?

I’m still on the 14 pro and see no benefit to upgrading. My camera is excellent (for a phone) and I have no need for the AI stuff.. feel like a lot of companies are desperate to shove AI into everything without actually thinking about what people need and want the device to actually do…

In relation to the iPhone 15.
It’s a fair point (or number of points). However, this assumes the iPhone 15 costs £100 more - as we’ve already established, it’s near as darned it the same price as the 16e, if not lower on occasion.

We of course can’t discount the other features but it’s up to the user as to whether these features are useful. AI (in general) is a dog’s dinner - I have yet to come across one useful feature that has made my life easier. Subjective I admit.
If AI is important then the decision makes itself as the 15 is out.

Surprised there wasn't a dedicated thread with the weird title thing.

I'm in the group of 13-mini users that were holding out last hope of something coming out a little cheaper (and ideally a little smaller) than the standard 16 and this is as close as we'll get. The price of the mini compared to standard iPhone is a lot to swallow so this takes the edge off a little and the spec still seems decent. I expect I'll upgrade to this even if the wireless charging is a little gimped as that is the only thing for me that isn't ideal.

Anyone else in similar position?

I’ve got a 13 that I’ve had for nearly 3 years now. I was prepped to auto-buy this, I want to go USB C as my iPad already is but I dunno. I saw this and I can’t decide if it’s upgrade or not. I won’t use the AI so am I just buying a cheap 16?
Will the camera be better?
Battery be better? Yes

In day to day use it won’t feel any different.

So what we think for the 17 series and iPhones going forward:

17 Pro/Pro Max, 17 Air, 17 (regular) and 17e?

Seems like what they are going for now.

I think the 17PM will finally be the time to upgrade my trusty 13PM. Been perfectly happy with it but better battery life and a better camera will be good.

What a confusing line up if that’s the case.

They’ll still sell older models like the 16 (non pro).

Need to stream line it a bit no need for a regular if they’re doing an E surely?

I mean the Air would essentially replace the regular Plus iPhone and the E model replaces the SE so it’s not really any different to what we have now..

Just wondering if they wanted to have similar synergy like the iPad (Pro, Air, Regular & Mini).

In the same boat, my battery is beginning to struggle on my 13 pro, but im just going to carry around a battery pack when I need a top up - the 16 pro just isn't inspiring at all, sure its got a few new features but I really dont care.

Probably go for the 17, the 16 pro feels identical in day to day use.

This is exactly it for me — it feels like it's now just a lower rung on their pricing ladder — whereas the old SE was a clear jump between models.

My parents, my in-laws, and my wife are/were on the last SE model. My mum recently upgraded to the base 16, and my wife's phone is starting to show its age, so I said to wait for the new SE that's just around the corner. But having seen the release, I think it makes more sense for her to get the base 16 than the 16e.

So I guess the pricing ladder is working on me…

Marques Brownlee's review is up, and he said the same thing as me — it seems like it's just a rung on the pricing ladder to get you to upgrade.

My daughter will be getting her first phone at the end of the year (reluctantly I might add) and our first thought was to go for something like an SE/16E, but weighing up the costs of it all and watching that video above, an upgrade for me and then her having my 15 Pro and a cheap SIM is probably the way we’ll go.
