That's probably why people are up in arms. Because they literally take no action to actual issues. I posted on here about my shockingly bad responses by northumberia police to actual crimes.
I once reported someone appearing to be leaving dead drops (probably weed or cash) behind a bush, near a kid's park close to where I live. They couldn't care less.
Then you read about someone being arrested over a twitter post, or training a dog to do "Nazi salutes" for a joke. Not surprising people lost faith in the police....

Bit unusual this happening at this time as usually now the police are shown to be raiding a well know drug den (which will be opened a week after the bust) and stopping Brad on his E-scooter in the town centre, while delivering his food and p's and done just intime for the upcoming new community charge to show us that the police are there twice a year and how your extra 10% this year for them and the commissioner will make no difference as seen in previous years.
Never thought I'd write such comments tbh after having quite a long line of police officers and the like in my family and at one time considered joining as well...Thankfully I didn't.

I'd like to know what the police commissioners actually do? I've only ever seen them being the mouthpiece for the police.
I thought they were supposed to be an oppositional figure to the police to put forward public concerns.
They turn up on Wednesday afternoons at village halls and the like to chat with retired people about their concerns over moles showing at the local bowls club and the rise in late deliveries by the post office.
Usually presented well afterwards by their press secretary (family member was one for the counties police chief) and then dribbled to us as a great success.
This really is the crux of it. I just came back to discover my bike stolen. Let's see if the response to that is taken just as seriously, it certainly wasn't when I was mugged or when I had my catalytic converter stolen.
I have to say also some of the responses in this thread are appalling, there are certainly a few who would be very willing participants in an Orwellian world.

Lad I used to work with went off to be a copper, 3 years later he got 14 years for touching a 6 year old while on duty and having hundreds of indecent images on his phone. He was also tipping of the local drug dealers to any planned raids.

There is no legal obligation to tell someone about a complaint. It might be in the police guidelines. But why?
If the police knocked on your door to say that you've committed no crime and they are just telling you about a complaint against you. What are you supposed to do with that information?

Weirdly can't find much media coverage but a Reform candicate got arrested the other day for "posting multiple times about assassinating the Prime Minister". Maybe the Mail got wind and ran the other article to deflect from their mates.
