Max amount of ram,speed i3 14 gen + z690 mb

Most people who has a higher tier cpu with 8 p cores + e core or a 12 core ryzen, don't need that much power, they just wanna have more than they need so games run 100% smoothly (or atleast as fast, smooth as it can with the gpu you have)

the feeling of been CPU bottle necked is very bad the gams get jumpy and take forever to load. 6 p cores is enough in most cases.
my 13900 runs at 80% usage with battlefield 2042

The games i play run smoothly, the small 14100f is surprisingly good

Im surprised things run so smoothly, also when i managed (not intended) to use almost 27 gb my cpu use i think was only close to 60%

If i ever find my self needing more power i would buy an i5 k cpu

Im surprised som say you need 8 p core for some games, i havn't had games where 6 cores isn't enough

If i have a cpu intense game i can try it (what games ?)

battlefield 2042, when i was using a 10400 (6c/12t) the game run at 100% all the time and it was generally crap to play

but on the flip side squad will only use 12% cpu, but there moving to unreal 5 soon so that will be fun to see
in squad my GPU sits at about 80% as the CPU cant feed it with info

what GPU do you have?

in games this is about right, thats why most have 32gb

a 14100f actually is faster than a i5 10600k + the single core performance is much higher

Even a 13400 don't have higher single core

just bought battlefield 2042

that's means nothing if something wants more cores.
again what GPU?

if you have an 14100 with a 3050 at 1080 your probably good, if you have an 14100 and a 4070s and you wanting high FPS at 1080 your have no chance

old pc parts is sold, i could change to a k cpu if i want to

later im gonna try bf 2042

I don't like the game please recommend me another cpu intense game

RAM usage has very little to do with CPU usage, you either have enough RAM for what you're using it for, or you don't.
Unless you're sat at 31GB+ in use constantly, it's most likely that your grapphics card is the thing holding you back.

I'm not sure if it's still the same now, but many years ago racing games were more sensitive to latency (the CL part) than frequency (the MHz). 3200-3600 is plenty for DDR4, preferably with as low CL as possible.

But overall, if you're happy with performance as it is then adding more RAM isn't likely to change anything at all (if you didn't have enough RAM the game would noticeably stall to <10fps in most cases)

battlefield 2042 is a dum game (i opted for a refound do to not having a campaign + cpu usage)

Recommended Requirements

  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Video Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT
An i7 4790k can hardly keep up with a 12100f but still they recommend it (non k version)

my 1410f is used with a lot in the background running i the 90's close to 100% often peaking at 100%

Recommended should be a i9 9900k or i7 10700k or mabye a 12600k

a 12400f should have been a i3 14 gen or atleast a 14100 should have been a k cpu, a 14400f has 6 p core and 8 e cores, that's a big difference

Update

I wanted to have a small cpu i can upgrade later, looked today at used scoket 1700 k cpus only one 200 euros 12900k (just about the same as a 13600kf and 14600kf), i wanted to know about edp throttling so i wanted to test it in my mb but i had to get it f2f

wanted to test it in my mb

12900k is not as efficient as a 13600kf and a 14600kf uses more power than most cpus https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i5-14600k/22.html

There also a big diffrence in temps https://www.techpowerup.com/review/intel-core-i5-14600k/24.html

so i ordered a 13600kf also because my 14100f i can't adjust bclk and i had to use Phantom gaming tunning to undervolt it + some games ( like battlefield 2042) uses my cpu a lot so it's not smooth

z mb and a k cpu if everything has to be unlocked that the mb offers

The BF 2042 specs are a little odd.... I'd expect a Ryzen 1600 to wipe the floor with a 4790 and a 6600k.

13600kf will be a decent boost in games that want more than 4c8t, definitely a better use of your money than faster (or even, more) RAM.
Although it will use more power and may not be much/any better in games that only need a couple of cores... Your other applications running (browser/music etc) may make the difference though.

Enjoy your new chip :)

I just so the 14600k review where the 13600k was cooler, thats the one im gonna get

BUT then the 13600k review also from techpowerup, it was using a little more power and get's hotter

or i messed it up totally

Then i so a comparison video and the 13600k again uses less power, the 14600k was cheaper so i guess i should have gotten the 14600k

Both are very close in performance to each other, usually under 10 fps (no benchmark will get the same fps within a few fps, it will always be different)

Also was a little :( i couldn't adjust bclk and only an external app to adjust vcore on my 14100f, even with a z mb, i especially bought for that and when i have a k cpu

I googled battelfield 2042 even 8 core ryzen, intel cpus was used close to it's max = bad optimized game

no game in 1440 p og higher should use a modern cpu 100%

Any guide to avoid edp throttling and optimize it so it doesn't get to hot and degrade, i hope i can get it to -100mv in the bios

Tbf I'm not sure how much point there is in tweaking BCLK, but the extra 400MHz boost at stock may make a small difference.
Not sure on optimisation either, if you're going for high framerates (144 or 240/360/480+ depending on monitor) then it seems reasonable that it uses the CPU heavily... bare in mind that most CPU reviews/benchmarks will use the best GPU (4090/5090) available to them to reducethe bottleneck/impact of that part and better demonstrate the difference between the part in question (CPU).

As most games will be mostly GPU limited, there's a huge difference between, for example, 4070 and 4090. Some games (e.g. strategy) will always pretty much use as much CPU as you can throw at it!

It was just if bclk wasn't 100 i just wanna set it to 100 and it should run closer to 100

this info will be about 4 years old i from what the game launched.
this is why i was asking what sort of games your planning on running.

I googled battelfield 2042 even 8 core ryzen, intel cpus was used close to it's max = bad optimized game
yes but there is a lot of games like this, like i said my 32 threads CPU will sit close to 90% usage
Squads only runs one 1core / 2threads, so game info is very much needed when asking questions about CPU's and Ram

For 99% of games 32gb of ram is all you will need for the next 5 years.
but there will be games that you can run mod's on and higher res packs that will love more ram

Based on what you have now, the 14100f - 32gb of ram and a 4070s is very good
but it will struggle with a lot of AAA games and newer games that are coming out.
a 14400f - 32gb of ram and a 4070s will just feel all over better in everyway

why a 14400f ?

compared to most stores 13600,14600K(F) is not a lot more expensive

Also have a z mb so i don't have edp throttling, unlocked all settings if i have a k cpu, i wanna have access to all setting my mb has

A small cpu don't have it but i have had with a 13400f and a b mb (after taht i wnet to amd since i knew they don't have edp throttling)

The obvious havn't fixed the cpu usage in battelfield 2042, some say enable all cores will fix but but to me + 90% + cpu usage is + 90% usage

not all games want a fast core some just want more threads the 14400 at 16, the 14600 is faster pre core but in game unless overclocking you differance will only be a few percent.
dont get me wrong the K chip would be better

the 13or14 400, 500, and 600 would be the go to for me, just buy with fits your budget best and you will have a much better games experience than the 14100

What type of games are you wanting to play, like whats the plan

super dissapointed that a 13600kf need so high increase of pl1 and pl2 not to edp throttle 255 and 275 watt, icc max 245-250

does anybody know if a 14400f edp thottles ?
