*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Weirdly looks like AMD officially launched these in China,

$599 for 9070XT
$549 for 9070

$50 higher than I expected tbh but they are still priced competitively I guess, although I suspect initial stock will fly off the shelves I reckon Nvidia will adjust its price and AMD will likely drop lower in a few months

Interestingly someone pointed out that the 7900GRE was launched in china at a higher price than everywhere else. So don’t be surprised if the official global pricing changes later today lol.

7900GRE launched at a higher price here, but got poor sales. It was a bit of a laughing stock initially. Price dropped when they launched it everywhere else.

4999RMB will have me considering it. Just waiting to see what the reviews say.

Edit: Opinion seems very positive on Chiphell forums. Hopefully there's a lot of stock, as this is going to sell well.

At those prices it converts to $599 for the XT and $539 for the non XT.

XT if trading blows with a 70Ti, that is a big win. You would be paying 25% more for similar performance for the Nvidia GPU. It will be even more massive if there is enough stock for that to be a realistic price for the base models.

The non XT seems like a missed trick and I assume would miss the 20% better price perf over a 5070, if all the perf leaks for both GPUs are accurate. But it should be noted that the 9070 does have 4GB more VRAM (no GDDR 7 won’t make a difference). Though getting under that $500 price point on the 9070 would have been massive.

$539 for the 9070 is so so and just too close to the 5070 expected price/perf but the extra VRAM helps a bit. Seems like they are upselling people to the XT and to be fair, I can understand why because $599 is a genuinely great price for the level of performance.

if these are the true prices, then they are amazing considering nvidia and current market conditions. You are basically getting 4080 performance for £600, its the kind of generational price/performance we should have got but NVidia decided to take us all to dry cleaners. I hope they regain market share, if these cards get cold reception then everybody who buy NVidia deserves these idiotic prices.

that £549 / £491 in pounds from the chinese price to pounds

RMB to dollar has tanked since Trump came into power

the chinese price would also include 13% vat for imported goods what that all translates to ....

If you subtract the 13% and convert straight to GBP and then add 20% VAT.

9070 = £520
9070 XT = £580

I doubt it’s that simple but let’s see how actual supply and street prices look.

If that Chinese price includes 13% vat then yes the US price (without vat) is considerably cheaper.

Signs are looking promising let’s see what they do later today

Ahh sorry I assumed they were plus VAT prices like USA

Until we see street prices and availability, these prices mean nothing for us. I mean there are still people who think the 5070Ti is a $750 GPU, the 5080 is $999 and the 5090 is $1999 :D

If its the later said folk probably have their nads safely ensconced in the other halfs handbag.

Eh... Or they're not mature enough to talk to their partners like adults and make bad financial decisions. £2500 is a ton of money for some people, and just like any personal luxury purchase, tons of people overextend themselves because they feel like they "have to have it" and/or "deserve it" without discussing what might be a bad decision as a unit.

Even I, for whom this amount isn't a huge deal, know tell my wife to expect a charge on our card lest she think it's fraud or thinks I've gone squirrelly buying a £2k+ video game toy (for which she would have a very valid point :) ). For others, it's a more inportant discussion to be had about budgeting, savings, and the value of things.

900 quid for a 5070ti and 1700 for a 5080 boggles the mind when the 9070xt is coming out soon.

I said this a few times on the 5000 series thread in response to people literally posting “but what choice do we have but to pay it”.

Having said that these 9070 and XT prices mean nothing if supply is constrained like the 5000 series. It should be remembered that AMD share wafer allocation with their highly sought after and successful CPUs.

FOMO crowd who did the same during the Pandemic.

Going OT a bit but this is why my wife and I have separate accounts for our own purchases and a joint account we pay into for household bills. As long as the bills are paid, no issues with silly PC toys.
