I'm a bit skeptical about this. AMD said they would have a full launch event in the 'near future' after barely mentioning it at CES, so is this it? A small unannounced event somewhere in China and in Chinese?

Scratch that turns out there is full event scheduled on their main YouTube channel from 13:00

I think this unprecedented period was responsible for Nvidia and AMD thinking they could get away with utterly bonkers prices. I’m hoping it looks like AMD learned a lesson but obviously Nvidia haven’t and people still reward them.

Will these alleged RDNA4 prices help push Nvidia to do a price reduction? I don’t think anyone can defend 5070Ti or 5080 pricing now. Even the 5090 looks woeful if a GPU gives ~60% the performance for 30% of the price.

I deffo run purchases like this via Mrs. Nitefly. We have some pretty mega outgoings at the moment and this month is unusually tight, so I offered up the 5090 pre-order for the chopping block.

However, she was absolutely adamant that I get more FPS and an overall much better gaming experience than @mrk - I couldn’t argue with that.

Unfortunately, that means we still have to budget for a sprinkler system.

No, there is also an official event later today for a price and performance reveal. This China event was unannounced and was for their market. What this does is just provide the most concrete price indicator we have seen yet.

I mentioned 4 months ago the computer is four years old in Feb and its time to start thinking about upgrading it ,but I do tend to build on a tighter budget what with warhammer ect on the side things can get expensive there

To be fair to AMD this is actually a great MSRP if true AND if the alleged performance is true. The scalping from retailers is due to limited supply and if there is reasonable stock the scalping should be minimal.

If stock is limited then yes, that’s on AMD as it drives scalping and they (as well as Nvidia) know this. So if we end with more fake MSRP nonsense, then AMD deserves the same stick Nvidia have been getting.

Under £600 for the entry level models would be pretty good. I'll probably get one at some point in a few months if that's the case.

I'm surprised there is such a small difference between the 9070 and 9070xt though. Who's buying the 9070 if it's only £50-£60 less :confused:

This has always been the case with GPUs. The reality is that it is the base MSRP that GPUs are judged on each gen. Higher end AIBs have always been a more premium option.

If these MSRP are accurate, then the 9070 XT is going to look very good value compared to the 5070Ti and especially the 5070.

Imagine a GPU only 10% more expensive and ~25% faster with 4GB more VRAM and I see no way these won’t review well compared to the 5070 and 5070 Ti.

If this is £600 I will sell my 5090 and get one. Can't justify the extra £2k in that case. Surely as there's no aib there will have to be cards selling for the rrp, unlike nvidias claim of the 5070ti at £729, which they said is the price of the FE when there isn't one!
