Which mug gets the sugar?

That's another thing....
Unless your camera is busted, there isn't a blue mug in the pic.
There's one that is a heavily bleached duck-egg grey kind of tint, but that isn't blue...

This forum (default) is blue and white.
Your fancy-pants milk carton is blue and white.
Your posh Yves-Dolce-Hillfigeurbury designer mug isn't even the Fleetwood Pantone 'Barely-Blue' of a student nurse's underwear....

It ain't blue. Don't let your wife tell you any different!!

I've not stated which mug is the correct one to be sugared, only that I add sugar to the correct mug.

Let's break it down logically:

  • You put the sugar in the correct mug.
  • Your partner puts sugar in the wrong mug.
That means both mugs end up with sugar, except for the one that originally shouldn’t have had it—which now does.

So, the mug that was originally supposed to have sugar doesn’t, and the one that wasn’t supposed to have sugar does.

Thus, the sugar ends up in the wrong mug.

Now, if you initially put sugar in the white mug, your partner’s mistake means the sugar is actually in the blue mug—and vice versa.

So the answer depends on which mug you originally put the sugar in. If you clarify that, we can settle this!

probably easier to tell them where the kitchen is when they arrive, then lock yourself in another room

The 'unspooned' mug shows evidence of having been stirred already, namely the vortex pattern in the slight froth, and the spec of instant coffee granule on the side which was not fully captured by the stirring.
The spooned mug has signs suggesting circular disturbance too.
This and other elements also suggest that whoever made these heated beverages is right-handed...

This establishment of instant coffee implies that stirring would be required in both mugs, and also eliminates the considered argument of a ground coffee machine, but then leaves me wondering what the metal cylinder thing is by the mains socket....?

But the bigger question is why the OP is making them coffee instead of a proper batch of Builders' Tea.
He has the means, as evidenced by the proudly showcased tea bags, but what is his motive.........?
 
I assume sugar goes in the white mug because sugar is white.

I have alternative theory that one of your roofers is white and the other is blue-da-ba-di but you didn't specify that.
 
Blue, as it's on the right. That's assuming you're right-handed. Also the spoon is pictured in the right-hand mug, so I assume it has been added and stirred.

You also wouldn't want to risk maneuvering sugar over the blue mug as you might spill some.
