These prices aren't amazing, but they're far away from a disaster. $500 for the non-XT would have made a lot more sense. Still, the XT looks around 10% faster than a 7900XT for less, with better upscaling and much improved RT performance for those that care.

It's not a huge price/performance improvement like we used to see, but neither is it derisory like Nvidia's. Granted, I'm being a hypocrite as I bought a 5080, but that was purely because AMD aren't offering a card in that performance tier this time around.

Here's hoping there's plenty of stock and the price doesn't stray too far North for basic models. A strong AMD in the gfx space benefits everyone.

This is about on par with a 4080 and may oc to a 5080 as that's not exactly worlds faster than the 4080. I would say it and the 5070ti are in the 5080s performance tier. 5080 at anything but msrp is a terrible buy.

the price performance is based on the 7800/7900gre so a bit better the 7900xt was £800-1000 on launch I think

Less VRAM than the 7900XT though.
How important that will be though we'll have to see.
I know last gen when AMD had 20/24GB and Nvidia had 16GB it was quite a big deal, now that AMD have 16GB I'm guessing it won't be such an issue.

Honestly, I'd have loved for the card to be priced lower, but given the performance uplift over the 7800XT/7900GRE, these seem to be priced FAIRLY, and much better value than anything from Nvidia.

These should actually have a chance of selling really well, unless Nvidia do some major price drops, especially if thanks to the backlog of stocking, they're actually in decent stock in coming months, unlike Nvidia cards.

Would have preferred them to include at least 20gb vram in the 9070XT for better future proofing at 4K and I would have gladly paid £600 to upgrade from 7800XT BUT I’m not sure now it’s worth it longer term. I’m waiting for UDNA or 60 Series Rubin I think with hopefully better vram configurations.

16Gb starting@$550(is the big deal) Vs 16Gb starting @$1119 last round so obviously cutting 16Gb cost by more than half isn't going to be such an issue.

As someone who owns an Asrock Taichi mobo which i have to say i love, i dont like the design of that card at all :( that clear fan in the middle just looks cheap and the branding on the back doesnt really match the rest of the card, its a bit of a mish mash. If they done a less hobo looking version id definitely be up for it. Right now im looking at the XFX and Powercolor options, Gigabyte i refuse to touch and the Asus just have a stupid tax usually.

Yes and no, I was never in the market for a 70ti/80/90 as I don't need anything of that power, I've had nvidia cards since 1999 maybe even before release after release I just end up disliking nvdia a little bit more and more, paper launches,problematic launches, more money for less and less so if I can get a card that's -2/-5% at 1440p for 100-200 pounds less I've decided I'm going to try it. Will the 5070/ti be as good if not better probably but I'm seriously tired of nvidia these days and it's time for a change, have a mate at work who's going the same as well he's frankly just had enough of nvidia. If it doesn't work out I'll just jump ship back next time but worth a shot regardless. Unlike a lot on here seemingly I have patience I'm quite happy to wait 3-6months to make a choice anyway I have no need to be the first on a random forum to say "look whats turned up... .picture of some gfx card"

This is what we have to contend with and we wonder why the prices are where they are nowadays.

Max the 9070XT seems to be worth only $550 as it’s only 10% better at raster than a 7900xt. The latter could have been had for £543 in November.

Not amazing value imo but for gpu starved market I see a lot of people buying them as they don’t have an alternative. I think this will increase market share which will be good news for UDNA and hopefully AMD will innovate raw performance.

R&C RT getting around 39fps at 4K native. How does that compare with a 4080?

Spiderman remastered RT seems to be getting similar frame rates as a 4090 which doesn't make sense.


Must be different settings I guess or the cpu is a bottleneck in the 4090 video.
Or AMD is sandbagging hard :eek:.
