*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

We have a few thousand cards. :)

We still don’t have our cost yet which won’t be until Monday from AiBs and I’m back Tuesday as having a long weekend away in Scotland. :)

If our cost from AIB allows us to hit MSRP and make a profit we will list and sell at MSRP but we need at least 8% markup to allow that, the business cost 6% to run so that would clear us 2%

So I do hope AMD have set an MSRP that is achievable for volume and not just say 10 units because otherwise if you ask me it’s not an MSRP it’s just a pipe dream.

Once I know my landed cost from Tuesday I’ll confirm if we can do it but with good supply and hopefully AMD setting an MSRP that allows both AIB and reseller to make a profit then yep we will hit it and I’m only after 8% to do so.

:)

Code for lowest possible price is £649 if card costs £599 ;):(

I said a few days ago that $599 was the max for a win in the 9070XT and I stand by that. It is a good price if performance is right around where AMD claims it is. Especially if it is close to MSRP and in good supply.

That 9070 is a miss at $550. It needs to be beating the 5070 by at least 20% price/perf and it just isn’t. Its only saving grace is the fact its power requirements are excellent. Essentially a $150 cheaper 7900XT with 30% lower power used and better RT and upscaling. Erm… actually now I’ve typed that it doesn’t seem so bad :D

Really if these were even $550 and $450 it would have been an absolute massive win for AMD. Are they already so close to making zero profit that 10% - 17% lower margins are a loss maker?

A very mixed bag from AMD but mostly positive overall. B+

I agree I think this is a pretty good price and launch, I don't really care about the 9070, this is an upsell card, and a half believe it's a cut down card for failed XTs and I see these being more part of system integrator builds than sold separately. It's there to serve a purpose but it's purpose is not to be sold to gamer imo.

I had a break down like this.

$699 Meh usual AMD
$650 Somewhat decent if performance is on par.
$599 pretty good starting price if availability can hold this price will win a lot of people over
$549 big market mover
$499 humiliating for Nvidia.

I did expect 649 when i heard them say 550 for the 9070 so I'm surprised they went 599.

I think it's a pretty good price and will gain market share, Nvidia don't have the stock to compete at the moment, the cards are will above MRSP so the actual difference is significantly more. The RT performance is an incredible leap from what it was before removing the entire argument to even own a Nvidia card if the argument is RT.

Nvidia with the 5000 series have had a rather pathetic performance uplift and changed very little generation on generation, at least with this pending reviews we have a tier of performance that has been brought down a stack to the new generation as per tradition, when you then factor in the multiple Nvidia issues, stock shortages, scalping etc this is a very good announcement.

If AMD can maintain a good stock flow and prices at MSRP level over the next couple of months it will move perception in a positive way. I don't think Nvidia will lower prices to compete, not at first, even even if they did it wont matter if they don't have the stock.

I genuinely believe the only people who are unhappy with this price never would have bought it, even if it was 499 they would be typing how they are waiting to see if Nvidia responds, they would never buy AMD they just want AMD to be competitive so Daddy J can pat them on the head rather than punch them in the nuts.

@Gibbo - While you're around would you know if the make/model of cards currently listed on the site are all the makes/models of cards OCUK will be selling?

I ask because i was wondering about XFX but having done a bit of research it seems like OCUK don't have much of a relationship with them.

But what if they are preempting Nvidia eventually normalising stock and prices, or even doing a price drop. These prices AMD announced gives them some room to reduce prices $50 - $75 in the not so distant future as a counter to any Nvidia moves.

Right now AMD avoided missing the open goal, it went in off a post but it’s a goal. Even the most negative pro Nvidia of tech sites have said good… not great. So AMD have avoided the “let’s point and laugh” that Nvidia have had over the 5000 series. That is already a big win for AMD.
They had 2 shots, scored one but missed the other.

Sapphire Pulse, maybe the Hellhound although Powercolor usually has the Fighter as the barebones model with the Hellhound up a tier.
Looks like the Reaper is the entry level PowerColor this time

2 slot, using PTM7950

the XT is on the high end of what I wanted to see; but it's not bad. the other one is dumb; should have come in at around $479-499 if the XT is $599. We'll see where the 6600 cards land.

We have all cards listed or en route for launch, we won’t be offering any more brands. :)

So finally (hopefully) a card that's 50% faster than my 3080fe in both raster and RT for around £650 I paid.

It's only taken over 4 years for someone to do it! :p

Feel free to take one up, I'll give it a good test. Will trade in haggis.

Just running some numbers that made my head spin...

Running with assumption that 9070xt will cost £700 retail:

You're paying 23% less for -2% performance of the cheapest available 5070ti (£900)

...42% less for 14% less performance of the cheapest 5080 available (£1200)

...73% less for 36% less performance than the cheapest 5090 (£2600)

Insane how bad nV priced at, and how much retailers are tacking on in this market.

Now imagine they actually do land at £585-600...

Yeah same here with 3080fe should have been 2 years not 4 years

9070XT should really cost £600 if retailers stick to msrp +VAT and a bit of profit. If it's £700 average then I'm out for now and will wait until prices come back to reality otherwise I wait for next gen. Not going to overpay for any card. I suspect most sane people will have a price limit.

Really impressed with the selection of 9070XTs from the AIB's, nice some of them are offering the same model in black or white, shame OCUK are not doing XFX as they offer the same card in at 3100mhz with black / white / RGB / removable fans in combinations. So you can go basic with just black 3100mhz all the way upto white RGB removable fans etc.
