I started flying around looking for a base last night and realised i may not have the time to dedicate to it without being more organised, so i changed tack and finally bought a fleet carrier. i had been saving one for a while anyway but in truth could not think of a use for it.
now i can, it means i can load it to the gills in advance which will make me soloing an orbital base in 4 weeks a hell of a lot easier
also from a more considered point of view.... there is a huge rush for colonising now so many of the good systems are likely taken up. however once those are all done, the bubble will expand making currently unreachable systems in reach... and hopefully a lot of players will be burned out making competition for the good spots a bit easier.
so stage 1, load my carrier (though i am now down to under a billion credits so i need to hope i have the funds to do it)
stage 2 find a system which is currently out of range but that will be in range once someone elses base is complete
stage 3 position my ship in the system which will ultimately offer the colonisation mission ready to go (I may even help finish it off if the timing is right after all if all goes to plan it will be their initial colonisation which may help me get my spot)
and then bring my fleet carrier to the system and crack on hopefully with all the materials on hand to complete my construction in 4 weeks.
ohh i also need to learn more about what it all means, hopefully others can do some heavy lifting on that, i understand there are some large player factions really smashing through base building and posting their experience.
ie what does +1 economy +3 tech -1 security actually mean from a practical POV.
I am thinking i want to start with a mining colony.............. but only because that in my head is what makes sense, to get some stuff mining to make profit from but i do not know if that is even how it works. maybe a prisoon colony or a research base would practically offer me more i dunno!.
