Finally found a system I was happy with :D

Solo, I've made the sensible choice of starting with an outpost, once that is in place I can work on other stuff without the four week time limit. I have 20.5k left of materials to gather and deliver so very doable with a Type 9, though once the outpost is complete I'll be down to small/medium pads so will need to switch to something smaller, Type 8 probably.

There is also nothing stopping other commanders from helping if they wanted to, the construction ship pays reasonable money for the commodities so no loss should be incurred.

I think my plan going forward will be to establish the outpost and then maybe get around to purchasing a fleet carrier to make life easier, with the income from the system it should cover the carrier upkeep costs from what I can see.

i totally sympathise with those who were just in the 75% bracket (I have been there myself) but this is great news for me as i may actually get chance to partake in it now :)
The threshold for the 75% bracket has actually gone down since the extension. I guess more people heard about the CG and the easy credits, but a majority are just tagging a single perp to get on the board, and not pushing for higher brackets.

Unless things change, the 75% bracket is easily attainable for both CGs. I bought a T8 for my new alt just for the CG, because it'll be more than paid off by the 60+ million I'll get for being in the top 75%

I am in top 75% for the combat and am leaving at that , however the trade CG is perfect for my steam deck whilst vegging on the sofa so am currently comfortably in the top 25% with my T9.

I did just lose a ship which sucks massively. it's not just the credits Incan get them back however I play the game roleplay wise that I never want to lose a ship. in over 10 years I have not lost many but the thing which annoys me is it was not my fault.

this is the 2nd time I lost a ship due to a glitch. I was leaving the station with full load of power generators and the space station glitches 90degrees smashing through my shields and wrecking my ship in an instant.

T9 lost,.full load lost, some exploration data and possibly over 10 million in power play bonds.

but it's the ship loss stat on my account which annoys the most.

I could I guess but I don't want to hassle them. at least I didn't losey SLF pilot (which I did when I last lost a ship due to a glitch).

btw I lost a 2nd fully loaded T9 in exactly the same way. I wonder if FD have done something which has messed up steam deck support a bit. it must be something niche as no one else has complained about it happening but 2 deaths due to warping stations in a few hrs seems a lot

Kinda tempted to take a break from hauling for my outpost to make some bank on the fleet carrier CMM Composite buy orders. There was one 300ly away that was offering 400k/t for 1500 units. That's some quick cash!

You've missed the boat on that one, CMM Composite is everywhere now (supply amounts were increased again this afternoon by the looks of it) and any carrier still paying silly credits for it will be exceedingly short lived. I managed a few runs this morning that netted me between 100 - 150m for a full load but it was annoying trying to find carriers that were actually buying. I've been hauling it to the CG which is netting me around 15m profit per run.

In other news my first outpost (Beer City - COL 285 SECTOR MF-B B15-1) is complete, finished it yesterday and am trying to decide what to build next lol.

Ah I did wonder why people were buying at crazy rates when they had bumped the availability. Inara giving me false hope!

I started flying around looking for a base last night and realised i may not have the time to dedicate to it without being more organised, so i changed tack and finally bought a fleet carrier. i had been saving one for a while anyway but in truth could not think of a use for it.

now i can, it means i can load it to the gills in advance which will make me soloing an orbital base in 4 weeks a hell of a lot easier

also from a more considered point of view.... there is a huge rush for colonising now so many of the good systems are likely taken up. however once those are all done, the bubble will expand making currently unreachable systems in reach... and hopefully a lot of players will be burned out making competition for the good spots a bit easier.

so stage 1, load my carrier (though i am now down to under a billion credits so i need to hope i have the funds to do it)
stage 2 find a system which is currently out of range but that will be in range once someone elses base is complete
stage 3 position my ship in the system which will ultimately offer the colonisation mission ready to go (I may even help finish it off if the timing is right after all if all goes to plan it will be their initial colonisation which may help me get my spot)

and then bring my fleet carrier to the system and crack on hopefully with all the materials on hand to complete my construction in 4 weeks.

ohh i also need to learn more about what it all means, hopefully others can do some heavy lifting on that, i understand there are some large player factions really smashing through base building and posting their experience.

ie what does +1 economy +3 tech -1 security actually mean from a practical POV.

I am thinking i want to start with a mining colony.............. but only because that in my head is what makes sense, to get some stuff mining to make profit from but i do not know if that is even how it works. maybe a prisoon colony or a research base would practically offer me more i dunno!.

Has anyone come across any stupidly named player owned stations/outposts yet? At the moment I am not feeling the need to engage with colonisation, and to be honest I dislike any feeling of having to "rush" to compete do anything in any online game anyway, but I know if people start naming stations with stupid names then that for me is going to really mess the game up for me and spoil the immersion when the 12 year olds start naming things after MAGA or parts of their anatomy. I just wonder how FDEV are going to police it when they get cash at the end of the day, and paying someone to sit there rejecting names is clearly not going to happen. I can deal with some random NPC ship called "Ivor, jest ye not Madam, Biggun", but not on permanent stations, its just going to suck. Rant over.

i havent yet but i believe some have been made.
There is a lot of chat about that very topic on the official forum and it is a concern i have voiced. Whilst i sympathise with people wanting to name their own places, equally i dont want nonsense names so over all i would happily lock that right down even tho it would mean me not being able to name my system.

FWIW it may not ever be a massive problem as i believe if you want to name something completely yourself you have to pay cash

its unfortunate that a minority of berks who love to spoil things means we cant have nice things (it is why the way crime and punishment is as sometimes illogical as it is as FD tried to play wack a mole with a tiny minority who exploited it initially.

I fear that the token cash payment needed to rename your own station won't really be a disincentive. I know some people have a psychological block about paying for in-game stuff, but 5000 Arx is only £2.99, and many people drop that on their morning coffee every single day without thinking twice.

It's definitely a big concern. I have zero interest in playing a game where I'm jumping into systems and seeing stations with the sort of names you see on fleet carriers, so I think I really will be out if they don't moderate this properly.

1 request has been a toggle to be able to switch between the current system names and user added names.

this won't help the base names but some how actual system and planet names worry me more than settlement names

Hang on, I hadn't heard anything about being able to rename systems or planets?!? That's not mentioned in any of the official blurb about Trailblazers, and I haven't seen anyone discuss it on Reddit.

Is it mentioned in the Frontier forums somewhere?

How does Elite Dangerous run on AMD cards? I need a new GPU and I’m considering one of the new AMD Radeon 9070 cards ?

Worth considering for Elite or should I stick with Nvidia?

I am so far away from colonisation its barely worth asking but can I build them in solo mode and it just means that other players can find it if they are playing open?
I finally got my left joystick yesterday so I binded some of the simple stuff but I actually don't know how to play the game properly yet lol.
