Half Life 2 RTX

It looks really nice, though frame gen has the usual niggling little issues (the crosshair when run over grass is a mess). Also, the glow from the grav gun simply turns off when looking in certain directions.

Still, pretty cool!

Had a chance to put some proper time into the game and this is what I wanted and expected. Absolutely stunning looking especially with HDR. The atmosphere is still exactly what I remembered when I first played HL 2. The only time the game looks overly "bright" is when you are in any area with flood lights or/and a fire blazing, aside from then, the game is still mostly dark, so much that you need to use your flashlight in areas where there are no lights.

@TNA

How's your power consumption? +300 on core and +2000 on memory with 90% power limit and less than 300w (taken in the opening part):

With MFG x4, very impressed with how little latency hit there is considering the massively increased fps:

1440p topping up to ~120 FPS FG was fine, but at 4K with a base ~30 FPS and FG to around 60 it was just nasty and I wouldn't consider it a playable experience, though I could drop DLSS off quality to improve that but personally even with DLSS4 I dislike anything below quality even at 4K - I can't unsee that some things look a bit cartoony chalky where it is reconstructing details.

So I tried it on my 3090 and with 4k performance DLSS4 Transformer, medium settings + x2 Lossless Scaling I can get 60fps so that's fine.

It's a bit grainy though? Why is that?

It's a slideshow @ 1440p with lowish settings. 1080p is a vaseline smeared mess.

I kinda want the final release just for the improved textures though.

Same as for me. I think low setting pathtracing + DLSS = light grain.

I think it looks better with less grain and more smear. I mentioned in the graphics forum but at a certain point the game looks a touch ‘cell shaded / stylistic’ which when combined with a higher framerate actually looks better than ‘high detail + grain’ (IMHO). Just a different sort of look but you still get the ‘jist’ of the raytracing.
