BMW and M Power Owners

It's really infurating, I've tried emailing BMW asking for a schedule but all I get is a copy paste answer about "Condition Based Servicing (CBS)" that says

"The iDrive Control Display gives you exact information on which component needs a check, so you can plan your service appointments well in advance and avoid any unnecessary maintenance work."
I say my car doesn't tell me when spark plugs are due on idrive they then repeat the same CBS copy paste...

BMW dealers, in this case Lookers in Stafford, continue to disappoint. I mentioned a while back my 530D had an emissions light come on and then stay on. I put the car in for a service and was told, after diagnosis, that it needed a DPF replacement, a bill of circa £4K as I recall. I told them to hold off as I wanted to consider my options and get a second opinion. Move on a few weeks and I dropped the car into a local company who advertise as DPF cleaners etc and have good reviews so I dropped the car into them.

Turns out my DPF was perfect, zero issue, clean which is what I would have expected with the limited miles and my typical use case. Turns out a couple of sensors were faulty, showed up clearly on the BMW diagnostic as such (they showed me) and after ordering parts, replacing and billing me £400 all was fixed, light gone and car normal again. I had also issues with outside temp failing which was fixed too. Another disappointing BMW dealership experience which is becoming more and more the normal these days, just like Mercedes.

It's really quite annoying how difficult it is to find any published confirmation anywhere as to what the schedule is. I had always assumed it was every other oil service and that's what I booked and had carried out.

If I get a quote for a pay monthly service plan on the BMW site the second service at 4 years/40k does include spark plugs. The third service is only oil and microfilter? Why would this be if the interval on the spark plugs is every third oil service?

They were done on the thrid service on my X3 and was about £750 from memory, that was just before 40k miles. Hate to think what he cost for the oil and plug change is on the M50i, the last quote for the oil service was £690 (with Nano filters), luckliy have the service plan on this one.

Are you sure it wasn't the second oil service if it was just before 40k miles? That would make sense and would agree when the schedule in the pay monthly service plan which is the closest I can find to any official documentation showing when it's due :D

No my oil services were all done about 13k (that's when CBS called them) miles. I got rid of the car at 44k.

I thinking driving profile as it never made the full two years. The car was June 2018 and I sold it after it was stolen recovered in Jan 23. I think the third service was around Nov22, not long before anyway.

So much for an SUV. Not long home.

Zero regrets, what a car. Significant step up over the F80 for ‘normal’ driving. Which is all I can do before the RIS.

I know it's a bit marmite, but pictures do not do it justice. Had so many people giving thumbs up, taking pictures etc on the way home, never experienced that.

Bought it from going for the X3M test drive, they had one in the showroom as we walked in, my wife and I immediately said 'we want it'. Unfortunately that one sold but we found another.

Extremely happy.

That is definitely not an SUV :P Love it though. Looks as special as the M3, in that it’s a rare colour.

Enjoy!

Java Green is epic! Much better choice than an X3M :)

Personally would've got an M4 given they're the same thing underneath but I assume an LCI is more than this LCI M2.
Either way, enjoy it! G-series cars are so much improved over the F-series cars it's incredible.

Jealous, especially the colour. Now get some silver/gold wheels on it ;)

Honestly, not a massive fan of the look of the G80/G81/G82, that nose still doesn't do it for me. They are also quite a bit more expensive. I love the look of the M2, low, wide, flared sills/arches etc.

Looks class. I guess you bought or saw the one in this video?
Looks that way, yeah. I wanted Java Green after seeing it in Cardiff in person. Not just wanted it, it's all I could think about. The wife wanted it also. There were 3 cars available, the Cardiff one, there was one in Plymouth (still available) and this one at Tring. The Cardiff one had carbon buckets, and by the time I made an enquiry it sold. The one in Plymouth also has carbon buckets and it has the full exterior carbon pack and, well, look at it:

No thanks.

It's also over £10k more than I paid. We didn't want the carbon buckets due to their (lack of) practicality in terms of getting in them, especially for our elderly parents when they come in the car, and our 3 year old climbing in and out of the back. The 'standard' M sport seats are extremely comfortable, and they have lumbar support which the F80 didn't have.

I asked my local dealership about a factory order and they quoted December, and all the AUC cars look to be ex-demos. The only thing missing from mine I would have wanted is adaptive cruise and silver wheels. I can live without adaptive cruise (it annoys me more often than not on the Tiguan, although I suppose the BMW system might be different), and I can easily change the wheels or have them painted so just went with it.

Nice. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
I had a nose at a red one at local dealer when it launched. I think it works in that colour too. Either way, not jealous at all.

Can adaptive cruise be added through the 'store'?
