Decent wheel brush suggestions, guys?

I've been using a Halfrauds one but the plasticy bits have a habit of dinging the wheels a lot - not scratched any paint yet but the Halfrauds ones seem to have a huge handle compared to some other ones.

I've been through many a wheel brush, and they are mostly just rubbish. My current wheel brushes are good though.

I have this one for doing the wheel face / tyres:

It does a good job, but obviously a lot of hard plastic on it, so you do have to be a bit carefull. But it really does the job well.

Next up is a proper set of wheel woolies. I got the Angelwax branded ones from in2detailing as at the time they were a bit cheaper than the non branded. They are costly, but every other sub £10 brush I tried lasted about a week before the brush coming away from the handle. These are solid. So I guess worth the money.

I also have an angled one to get right in behind the spokes if I need to: https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/coll...poke-back-wheel-woolie?variant=32327907901519

After that, I also have an AutoGlym brush which has done me very well for years. It has nice hard bristles on it so good for getting at the more stubborn "dirt". Other manufacturers seem to do a similar brush, the likes of Gyeon and stuff. So probably pretty similar quality. Similar to this one: https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/coll...nt-brush-wooden-handle?variant=39255947477071

I get it, it's a lot of expense for cleaning wheels. But my current system does work pretty well for me. And these brushes are all quality, so I know I'm not replacing any of it anytime soon.

I just use a barrel brush and a Flag tip nylon brush, the flag tip one i also use around the badges and grills as its very soft its great on bodywork

I wonder why it isn’t compatible. I use a V2 and it works just fine

I've ordered the P50 Easy from B and Q as it was on offer and with topcashback another 8% off. So about £159 with no foam cannon. Direct from AVA it comes with the FC for £269. That leave me plenty of wiggle room to get a decent third party one. When it arrives I will check the attachment with my neighbours Karcher. I think I will but the MJJC Pro V2 with the Karcher K series fitting and hopefully it will be fine.

I'm most looking forward to the 11m hose length and being able to leave the PW in the garage and get around all my car without constantly moving the PW about.

Gave the BMW some TLC today.

It started with “I’m just gonna wash it” and ended up being a 5 hour job applying a layer of Fusso Coat and then Sonax BSD for some extreme beading. Why? Because why not :P

Tried out the new Re View by Bilt Hamber, which is a glass “polish” - it removes traffic film and contaminants from the glass but doesn’t polish it. Then applied Glaco Ultra all round :-)

I used the MJJC again today and had no issues. Fits nice and snug with the Ava lance

That’s a super price though!

I think I remember you saying you used Angelwax H2Go before which I normally use. How does the Glaco compare? Despite all I read about H2Go after a month I'm noticing it needs re-applying.

I bought H2Go after it won the best glass coating in Forensic’s video where he compared a few.

Honestly I’m not that impressed. It’s still there but the performance dropped off a cliff quite quickly and has remained the same since.

Glaco Ultra is nice but lasts 6-12 months.

The best I’ve used is GTechniq’s glass coating, but it can be very difficult to get the application done properly. Ive never owned a car long enough to see it degrade.

I’ve left H2Go on the front for now as I couldn’t be bothered to do the front glass. To remove a glass coating properly, it needs machine polishing with ceriglass I’ve found.

Thanks, what pad do you use to remove it with ceriglass? Can I use the same type foam polishing pads I used for the paintwork?

This was the one I looked at for Angelwax but I did skip the ceriglass stage...

When I had my car detailed and ceramic coated, they applied a coating to the glass which was great for water repellency, but I found it caused a haze on cold mornings which was incredibly irritating and almost opaque when the sun hit it. Couldn't get it off even with a clay bar, but the Glaco Glass Compound stuff took it off in one application.

I then reapplied the Glaco Ultra stuff and it worked well, but I still found that it could be hazy on cold morning. I've since removed it (using their compound again) and have now decided not to use any coatings on my windscreen. Still use Glaco Ultra on the rear and side glass, but I'll just rely on wipers for the front.

Ive gotten so used to water droplets grouping tightly on the front screen that I struggle without it. It ends up just looking smeary instead, reducing visibility

I have also found that compounds like Glaco don’t remove the coating fully, or not consistently.

The trade off with the sealants is that slight haze you get, but for me it’s worth it. The wiper judder is annoying though. Gtechniq is the worst for that I’ve found.

You can use a foam pad, yes.

Polishing pads and their cutting ability are based on how much product they absorb vs keep on the surface.

To get a higher cut, you’ll want a rayon pad, which Amazon sell (as well as detailing places).

It’s the same reason the Glaco stuff use felt, because it keeps as much of the product on the surface of the pad as possible.

You’ll always want to prep a surface as best as possible. The traffic film you get on glass can (negatively) impact how well a sealant bonds to the glass.

Try Re View from Bilt Hamber. It’ll be a 95% job on surface prep with a good applicator. I’m using the gtechniq hexagon thingy as it is easy to hold.

Yeah it's a shame, it's nice to have water just roll off the glass at speed, but for me it wasn't worth the compromise. Couldn't stand it when my screen would haze up on a cold morning.

Won't be using in2detailing anymore. Had my delivery over a week ago and the Touchless had leaked about a third of the contents into the box. Nothing else was damaged. Didn't think it would be an issue so sent them photographs and the courier also took photographs. I've sent them photo's by email and contacted them by webnote. Tried the phone, nothing. Another company that's superb if everything goes as it should but disappear when you have minor issue to resolve!

1st time I used them I had bent brushes, they sent me new ones straight away

2nd time I ordered , I had a battery sprayer that went faulty after say 2 weeks, replaced no problem

Think you just need a decent set of wipers to avoid juddering - in todays wash , as you do, found the mid section on one of the bosch aero was splitting off, so will need a new set of those,
why do they no longer have universal fit wipers where you snap on the fitting you need.

Cleaning wheel arch material on rears of audi is problematic, turns out its like carpet underlay, hand scrubbing brush I tried was pretty useless,
spraying lower pressure water from karcher about the best I could do, meter long right angle lance is a bit cumbersome too, to get into rim, can't get the angle.

That’s pretty poor customer service.

I use clean and shiny locally, in addition to clean your car.

Both have been great customer service IMO, especially clean your car who went above and beyond to fix an issue with a Das 6 Nano I had.

I will give one of those a try next. Tried out the AVA this morning for the first time and borrowed my neighbours autoglym foam canon with the karcher connection and you are right it works no issues. I will order the MJJC V2 with the Karcher connection. I was only testing it and using up some crappy pro kleen snow foam and got perfect foam instead of the watery mess I usually get. So my issue was down to flow rate I think.

Very impressed with the AVA, 12 meter hose is a game changer for me just being able to wander round the whole car and not worry about the hard nilfisk hose rubbing up against car.

The MJJC will come with 2 nozzles I think (mine did anyway) - one is smaller which allows for thicker foam on lower flow rates.

I had to buy an autoglym foamer yesterday as I was doing my mums car at hers, and forgot it.

It’s quite a good foamer but not worth £40. Main thing was that the suction tube is hard - the soft flexible one with the ball filter on the MJJC allows for better foaming when the snow foam level is lower in the bottle (as in, when you’re running out).

Can probably get an upgraded tube though.

Is there any deterrante you can use for cats ?. My neighbor and some areas around my street there are cats .and they have a habit of jumping on the car bonnet . Iv noticed a couple of marks appearing on my car ..

Anyone know on what I can do do protect some of the front wings ? And possibly scare away cats ?
