Alec Baldwin fatally shoots woman with prop gun on movie set

has anyone high up ever served jail time for someone being shot and killed on a set?

They take all the credit but none of the responsibility it seems

The only jail time served by those from the limelight industry would be for tax evasion :)

Don't assume, Check.

A sloppy attitude to safety has to be addressed by all involved.

A "No real guns or live rounds on film sets" rule would be a good place to start !

But I guess 'mericans need to have lethal force available at all times just in case they feel the need to randomly shoot up a highschool.

He can afford good lawyers + the prosecution screwed up.

Ridiculous it took so long, it was obviously not his fault, could have solved it in 5 mins and saved everyone a lot of time and money.

Not really, someone died - that requires a proper investigation as there was clearly negligence involved, I think it's quite right that Baldwin, the AD and the armourer were charged and indeed the AD took a plea bargain for negligent use of a deadly weapon and the armourer has a pending sentence for manslaughter.

wow looking up other famous cases I can remember, no one ever seems to get jail time.

Even the twilight zone 1982 helicopter crash no one got sentences... just people acquitted that's crazy

The crash killed actor Vic Morrow and child actors Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen

the footage of it is insane as well, they clearly had 0 care for safety, night time+ helicopter flying low above water+ massive explosives and actors underneath..

what could go wrong.

meh..if I was an actor in a film and was handed a gun, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it not to have live rounds in it...
It's also not unreasonable to expect everyone to either check for themselves, or to at least be able to watch and verify as a safety handler does the checks to prove the condition. Indeed most movie firearm regulations specifically facillitate this, as do various other safety procedures for other things.

Are we still clinging onto the notion that an actor is supposed to be able to tell the difference between a real freedom seed and the fake pretend freedom seeds that a revolver specifically needs to have in order to look right on camera? Y'know the ones that are supposed to look exactly like the real thing?

Ironically, if he weren't such a wet ****lib, he might have had some gun experience and know not to point it at a friend and pull the trigger.

Kinda have to do that on a movie set though.

It was an accident, but if this was in the UK the people responsible for handling the ammo and firearms would get a minimum of 5 years for firearms offences. But it's the US so yeehaww.

In the UK if you go to a range and even accidentally let off a round in the sky, your ******.
