*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

It feels like Nintendo only wanted this show the games between now and what will be their summer direct.

I remember the switch 1 direct had for launch till Christmas.

No 3d Mario, no 3d kirby, no xenoblade, no Mario sports games ect.

I wonder how much of the pricing inc. Mario Kart is an attempt to avoid the market having loads of carts moving about. Incentivise digital on your biggest games and you will end up with more sales.

1) That's a lot of money for a handheld

It's not just a handheld though, is it? Everyone I know who has one thinks of it as a TV console that has the bonus that you can take it with you, no idea how common that view is.

2) That's a lot of money for physical games

People still buy physical games? I dunno, game prices can't keep stalling for ever. Inflation alone is a 30% hike since 2017.

Sounds like Nintendo are just trying to rip everyone off/go full on milking every last penny from it's fans.

Not even going to consider one.

No doubt they'll release an oled version in a year or two as well for $500 or more.

I've never sold a physical Nintendo game and lost more than a fiver. Digital is dead money, so yes.

Kind of as expected, looks unlikely to be a day one, or even year one purchase for me.

£400 is a bit on the 'ambitious' side of the scales for me, especially nothing in the games lineup that's a 'system seller' to me either. Pricing of games and accessories also a bit laughable.

Had hoped for a bit more of inspiring launch lineup really that might have tempted me even if the console felt a bit pricey.

It's aimed at kids. That is there family market and is why they do what they do with restrictions.

My point is come Christmas... No parent is going to buy a switch2 for a kid and not get them a game to play.
Yet marketing it’s mostly adults so it’s not just aimed at kids

Of course parents will buy a game will they buy multiple? Not as likely at £75

I suspect if anything parents will wait for a Switch2 Lite

Doesn't OLED consume less energy than LCD?
at 120hz with that size screen on bright Nintendo games? no way. the power draw at 120hz would be huge.

On darker content, something like BG3 in a dungeon OLED would shine on power draw.

Splatoon, mario, mario kart, Zelda where there is a screen full of bright pixels moving at 120hz the battery would draw real quick, look at the Asus and Lenovo AMD windows handhelds, you need a power brick.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Switch 2 using micro SD express cards ? As far as I can see 256Gb appears to be the largest size readily available .... I did find a Lexar 512Gb for £149.99 that I assume should be compatible, but isn't a partner company with Nintendo, who seem to be marketing Samsung and Sandisk cards.
For my uses, not sure 256Gb will be enough as I currently have a 400Gb micro SD card in my OG Switch which is almost full.

Both those handhelds with poor battery life use LCD displays.

The console cost I can swallow, but the games cost. Christ... They even want money for the Switch 2 'manual' title.

Not crazy excited about the lineup. I've been quietly hyped for Switch 2 for many years, but that Direct has killed my enthusiasm.

I would assume the Lexar one will be fine.
