New theme park: Universal Studios… Bedford!

Will the government need to subsidise it? They're already overspending on rail infrastructure!

Since this is a private company I wonder if they're going to ask the UK to support? Surely they should do this off their own backs if they see this as profitable?

When properties become scarce, companies trying to house their contractors will pay handsomely for a long term let (should they have a long term contract there).
Hopefully you are right.

We have another property in Hertfordshire, but its the house in Bedford that has constantly been in demand (never a void period) before all of these rumblings about Universal.

Lets see

Some sort of deal will be made to facilitate infrastructure. It’s an amazing thing for a country to host re: jobs and tourism.

Lots of people moving out of London and further north, but skipping over Luton (obviously) so the next stop is Bedford or MK. House demand is pretty high in the outter parts of town and surrounding villages.

Milton Keynes will get even crazier

Side note, as long as Comcast keep control and this isn't some UK subcontractor variant of the park - all will be good

Looking forward to seeing all the family photos
Starmers there don't know if he's taken Robineeves too; if it is a franchise , does that represent a tax benefit for universal offshoring profits.

ex-brickworks location - used to go swimming at Stewartby pool/Lido heated by the brick-works;
flooding in bedford in recent years must have taken shine of riverside locations.

MK and Bedford are both grim. I used to work in MK my soul drained out of me every day I was there.

I mean I used to work in infrastructure that supports the location and this sort of project. I'm all for it, local jobs, tourism etc... I'm just curious owing to the state of the economy of how much subsidy will be put forward by gov. I just don't want gov hands on these projects as it causes huge delays and issues (HS2, NR upgrades, Hinckley etc....) all basket case projects as soon as gov get their hands in on the governance.

Too much gov interference will cause the opportunity to disappear is what I'm worried about.

MK looks like an American city, except with weird or ugly looking houses. Bedford is ok apart from a couple of areas.

Luton is an actual slum. Though it doesn't smell as bad as Birmingham at the moment lol

Let's not forget about the other park that's currently doing consultations.

I've been to the one in France many years ago, and it was fantastic. Not so much with the rides but the atmosphere and seeing two guys in armour bashing the living hell out of each other is just cool. ;)

And it’s on

Some planing lending but apparently it’s endorsed by the PM so that’s sounding extremely promising!!!

And trying to take credit for making it all happen under Labour despite the whole thing starting in late 2023...
