Would you warn oncoming drivers of a mobile speed camera?

It is clear from research that incidents at 20mph have better outcomes than at 30mph. I suspect the reason creep up back to previous numbers at year 3 and so on is that increasing numbers of drivers edge back up their old speed and ignore the 20mph limits.
I'd be all for more 20mph zones if they ditch speed bumps.

Hell, I'd take 10/15 in some areas if they ditched them.

Pain in the backside of ambulances too, let alone their patients.

You shouldn't speed - agreed, but sometimes we do. You takes your chances :)

Should you warn other motorists - i used to all the time with a flash of the lights and was grateful to others who would do the same, but these days i am wary of being punished/fined myself for doing so.

The comments, "no, not my problem", i'd love to know the age groups of those that said that here. The younger generation are very me, me, me. So it probably comes down to the age demographic as to to who would and who wouldn't warn other motorists.

I'm 60, and if people are unaware of their surroundings so much that they get caught speeding then that's on them, it's not for me to save them.

Yes.

They keep saying the main aim for speed cameras is to slow motorists down, not catch them

Mobile speed cameras are primarily designed to slow down drivers and reduce speeding, rather than just catching offenders. Their effectiveness in reducing accidents and fatalities is well-documented. While they do issue penalties for exceeding the speed limit, the main goal is to deter speeding and improve road safety

So warning someone there is one ahead has the same effect.

That used to happen more before a kid was killed by a speeding driver here just before Christmas last year. Now, not so much.
That's not good, but enitrely understandable.

Our village and surrounding villages are all 30mph. The police vans don't tend to come to our village as it's so small, but the you'll get them in Bainton, Malton, Tiubthorpe and Cranswick where they change from 40 to 30.

Most cars behave, due to local animals and farms, it's more the bikers (some bikers, not all) that go silly. Only yesterday I saw almost 2 seperate accidents happen, groups of bikers weaving, trying to warm up tyres, overtaking me and I'm doing 60 in a NSL country road, not seeing the car in front of me indicating right and trying to overtake it as a group.

We have Seaways cafe in Fridaythorpe and Bainton Stop in Bainton which are big bikers meet areas. I garuntee that if I were to go to either right now, they would be maxed out with bikers which is cool. Most of them ride well, as always it's the few muppets that ruin it.(I used to ride a mototbike myself)

Apparently some forces are using completely unmarked vans now so not sure how that holds up any more.

Maybe starting to pursue the idea that people might drive at sensible speeds everywhere if there's a chance of being caught anywhere, rather than speeding everywhere except where someone flashes them to warn there's a van ahead.

I’m not opposed to 20mph zones if used sensibly (built up residential areas) but having blanket 20mph limits is a bit daft. Agreed, 20mph zones and speed bumps is just annoying, use one or the other but not both

Yep
Truckers -bikers and cars except BMW's -All vans except white van man. BMW's and WVM are the ones that seem to want a lift in my boot even though I am going as fast as vehicle in front.:)

Of course. This whole "I'm alright jack" mentality is exactly what's wrong with society nowadays.

Frankly anyone not looking out for their fellow people is an idiot.

I guess Devil's Advocate would be saying that it's looking out for others by not letting drivers know.

Interesting, and there was me thinking it's the arrogant "I'm too important to follow the rules which are in place for everyone's benefit" mentality that was the problem!

If someone deserves "looking out for", then they don't need me warning them about the camera since they won't be speeding anyway
