Mountain Biking

For sure - higher numbers always get the headlines and customer attention. Whether or not people actually need it is a different story :)

For the majority of my riding I pretty much ride around in Tour+ or eMTB modes, which are the lower powered assistance modes. I only use Turbo when my son decides he wants a race up a hill, which he normally wins, because he's 35 kg lighter than me

Oh how I know those feels!!

I don’t think the DJI motor is “proven” enough yet either to get too excited about it.

I’ve got mine in turbo all the time because I’m a child, max assist at 85 but I’ve dropped the other parameters so it just feels like I’m young rather than it doing anything punchy. The emtb mode as a result gives me more assist, I don’t use the others as I’m never riding on the flat, I still have my 100% me power bikes for that.

I nearly bought one of those UNNO Pro DJI bikes last night.
Best looking bike I've seen so far this year. Love the carbon weave, but you can't internally route a cable for a derailleur :(

I was kinda hoping to buy another Specialized, but the new release changes to a side loading battery and the big fat down tube and the weight have put me off.

Why not just go wireless?

Only comes with that option anyway, and if you can afford £10k for a bike, I'm not sure replacements are an issue?

Something that seems to have gone relatively unmentioned by a lot of the media I have seen and a really annoying choice of design by Unno.

With the new Shimano 12sp wireless due to drop soon-ish it is a problem that can be worked around, but I hate being dictated to by bike designers as to what groupset I need to run.

Forces you into a 12sp setup, which is mostly redundant on an eBike. I'd rather have a stronger rear mech and chain that can handle the torque put out by a motor and deal with a narrower range cassette.

Although ultimately I'd rather have a gearbox setup like the Pinion MGU and not have any moving parts on the bike.

Had zero issue with 12 speed on my orbea, 1000km of mostly winter, muddy riding with a fair chunk on turbo!

But yes I'm looking forward to a gearbox.

It is due to the replacement costs.
My last bike purchase was nearly 5 and a half years ago and over that time I've managed to save some money towards a bike and recently cashed out some BTC for it. (Instead of a lambo, I'll buy a new bike)
But the price of the sram cassettes and chains is ridiculous.

I've been pretty happy with the 10sp Linkglide I fitted to my Levo. The derailleur is much shorter so less chance of snagging it and the replacement parts are cheap as chips.

I’m rocking a wired XT on my e-bike as I don’t want the hassle of forgetting to charge batteries etc. With the release of T-type eagle 70/90 I will however look to move to t-type due to the strength of that derailleur.

A lot of e-bikes that have bike parks in mind are looking at 9/10/11 speed shimano Cues set ups for the very reasons mentioned above by others, durability and strength. As more power gets added to bikes, these lesser geared options will start to become the norm I’d imagine.

I’ve only put around 80miles on my bike and I already have signs of chain stretch which in turn means cassette damage etc. I don’t fancy needing to swap out £350 worth of parts every few hundred miles personally so the chunky chain and gear set of that cues also looks like a solid option. It’s well priced too!!

With e-mtbs are the shifters generally single click affairs? I mean rather than the ones where you can sweep down shift through like 4 or 5 cogs really quick like my old Shimano XTR one? I can understand why this would be, due to torque and wrecking things, but I do kind of miss being able to down shift quickly to very low gears when you come upon a tight switch back that you weren't ready for, for example. Thoughts?

My emtb comes with SRAM stuff. I forget the exact spec. All works fine for now. I think it's 12 speed.

It depends on the groupset/shifter.

Shimano M8100 XT Linkglide allows for double shifting down, single up.

XTR and XT 12sp allows for quadruple shifts down, double up. SLX and Deore 12sp are triple down, single up.

SRAM Transmission will let you multi-shift, but it limits the amount of gears you can move until there is a shifting ramp available on the cassette.

Fox kashima dropper on route. Should be here by Thursday. In the interim, she’s a beauty! Just have her a good smash in the local woods for 14.3 miles which felt like about 6 at best. Absolutely love it!!

Needs a dust off and perhaps a wash now though. May swap out to the tacky chan rear and magic Mary front mind.

You seem to like your gold, but you are honestly wasting money on the Transfer. Get a BikeYoke Revive instead - will last you a lifetime, unlike the Fox.

I’ve got a oneup on at the moment, it may end up getting put back on, who knows. If it does, it’s a spare for the parts bin so it’s no real issue.

Got to love a bit of Kashima goodness though :D

Some bikes, I believe charge the rear mech when charging the bike though I can't remember what.

I managed 600km~ on my chain before needing to replace it on the ebike. I imagine in going to get 3000km or so our the cassette.

Id have no issues with a 10 speed on an ebike though.

You can get the cable that wires in to the emtb battery somehow yes but Ill be honest, Ive not looked in to it. Is it worth going "wireless" for an extra £500 though over the Eagle 90? probably not..

That display is nice and the info on it would be fantastic in the top tube. I know its coming as its been shown off in snips here and there on youtube. Id imagine most upgrades etc will follow 1st of may, I guess we shall see. If not, I'm not complaining, the app on the phone gives me all I need when I get home to nurse my beat up legs and rear. :D

Edit: Bosch Kiox 400C or BRC3200 are the names of it by the looks of it.

Yes I did see that was coming.
I always find it harder to read info on the top tube and prefer bar mounted displays

I'm going to take my 177 to bike park wales soon hopefully. Might change the head angle cups but unsure how to do it.

The plastic cups that hold the bearing have a notch at the front and the rear, rotate them around at the top or bottom etc to get your desired head angle. The notch will always need to face forward but as you have one on the front and rear, rotating just makes one a rear and the other a front and then the other way around once turned 180 degrees.

I have no idea what mine is currently set to although I think I have a steep angle at the moment. Ill check when I can mind.
