What did you do to your bike today?

Am the odd one out since I sold my K!
I toyed with the idea of a K1200/1300S before buying the Bird. 1200 was out of question due to various issues I read online and 1300 was out of budget. Only saw one 1300 on eBay for 2.5k but was high mileage iirc. Would like to own one someday if I can get over the looks of the rear lol.

Will be interested to hear if they helped you - I found they made zero difference to my right bar end mirror on my street triple... Still vibrated above 60ish mph (though weirdly adding grip puppies has helped a bit).
Took maybe 10% of the vibes out of the mirrors.... so still pretty useless lol, but the buzz has gone from my hands at least.

Saw someone modify the mirrors, by heating the glass off, the putting ball bearings inside, with a load of silicone

Yeah I doubt anybody in my group would recommend the 1200 without a lot of caveats. The 1300 was much improved, but they always had their fun niggles. Like paint that refuses to stay on the engine, or the front wheel carrier, or the rear driveshaft etc. Plus everything else that took me to Bahnstormer fairly frequently that I've since wiped from my memory!

The sports panniers look great though, I always thought mine looked better with them on than without, it completed the rear end properly. Unlike the KTM, which I'm trying to avoid using the panniers on whenever possible!

They are getting on a bit now mind, with the newest being 9-10 years old. And for me at least, I find I can ride the KTM far far more 'progressively' than I could the long low K. Higher wider bars obviously helps, but I think these kinds of bikes have come on a lot since the K. The H2SX that seems to be the spiritual successor to the K, even though it 'feels' pretty similar in geo etc, is also easier to ride fast. But it's also hella expensive!

Mind you, my K1300 friends can mostly keep up when they want to, so I think it was just that I was a lot more rubbish at riding when I had the K! Oh and since I got Track Pack added I'm informed I definitely have the legs out of corners, which helps!

I imagine the Blackbird is far more reliable a proposition than the K, at a similar age and all else being equal. I think most K owners I know have got good value out of their expensive BMW Insured Warranties, or regretted at leisure having chosen not to renew it :D.

@Griffo So far in near 6 months ownership and 500+ miles it has been amazing. I can happily recommend it to anyone. I have carb cleaning service booked this week as part of maintenance. Getting around 42 mpg, so not bad at all.

I sat on the H2SX at Motorcycle Live last year and it felt little upright than the Bird, so better comfort imo. With Hayabusa being more lower. To me Bird is perfect. I can't imagine any other bike getting close to what it offers to me. :)

Well that 500 better have another 0 on the end after the next six months! :D

Get it over the watery bits to France-and-friends and it'll go by in no time!

Rode it Wednesday to a great café I discovered in Wells, then got an MOT and a "rear wheel bearing has slight play" :/.

Have you any use for a rear paddock stand and rear hub socket for your bike?
I'll never need them again and can't be bothered listing them on Ebay.
Postage only.

Road 6 yeah? I love these tyres so much! I'm about a mm from mine being finished on the (2nd with this front) rear and they're still so lovely on turn-in. I always end up noticing the squaring off with everything else I've ever used by this stage.

Yea, Road 6 Had Pilot Power 2CT on before which are pretty good but do lack in cooler weather. A lot of peeps really rate the Road 6 so we'll see. 10k from the front and 2x5k for the rear for the Powers, the R6 are meant to be a bit better for wear as well

I would be keen on your review too. My bike currently has the 2 CTs as new. The previous owner had just put them on before sale. I am happy with them so far and like the look of them.

Fitting them this weekend as the Powers are totally toast now. The old girl was really grumbling today about turn-in on the ride out to Peterboring and back with a mate to pick up his gen 3 S1KR and an evening bimble out the Great Yarmouth and back. I'll drop a review once I've got a few miles on them and if I remember, I'll tag you in it!

Had a nice ride out yesteday (Easter Sunday) and the roads were surprisingly quiet considering the weather was great. One sad moment, however, I rode past the well known (here in North Wales) The Pondarosa Cafe at the top of the Horseshoe Pass. The gates were closed and the car park empty. In the past that car park was always rammed with bikes of all shapes and sizes, but sadly the place has shut down. I'm sure it will be greatly missed.:(

Ordered a static wheel balancer that arrived today, so I balanced the front wheel. Dead easy to do. I can't believe just how cheap this thing is. It's 3mm steel, has a bubble level with 4 levelling feet, is square enough, has 4 sealed bearings for the aluminium rod to sit on, with two aluminium axel cones and it cost £22. Delivered in a few days. Twenty-two bloody quid!! I've also got a manual tyre machine/bead breaker combi on the way as well, along with associated extras, will post em up when they arrive. No more paying £65 a pair to get my tyres mounted for me!!!

Hacked a big chunk of foam out of the seat, and bunged some eBay gel into it - not a professional finish, but better than my last effort; it looks OEM but to the touch you can feel the transition from foam to gel - not that my arse will tell though

Pretty much the same one I have, keep those roller bearings lubed up though, they're usually cheap af and rust really quickly, have had to replace mine a few times.

Not technically what I did on the bike, but the other bit arrived today. £110 delivered in 4 days. As I said on the Items I've Bought thread, I'm about £185 deep (Rim protectors and a few other odds and sods I've not taken a pic of). 3 pairs of tyres and I'm in profit, plus I'm sure some of my mates will want me to fit rubber for 'em for a few beer tokens. I'm also more likely to use stickier rubber for track days as well, as there will be no fitting cost. Hell, I might even use a dedicated winter tyre this year, although I'm hoping I don't need to with the Road 6s....
