An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

You may as well save some fps and disable RT then, because you won't notice it in game ;)

Something weird with the latency. Showing near 80 with upscaling off.
DLSS quality ranging 30-50ms

AC Shadows is the first game where I’ve really noticed RT. Partly what tipped me to the 5090. Partly switching away almost entirely from console gaming.

Looks pretty decent so far, some issues already with some of the lighting and reflections though (screen space reflections looking off and some weirdness with the volumetric light). I think the main thing for me is the colour is a little off, I think it needs a slight bit more saturation/vibrancy to more closely match the the exteriors of the original, the dungeons look spot on though. Performance seems decent, probably need to experiment with the hardware RT options vs software to see if the performance hit is worth it.

It's the same inventory UI as before so likely that will have some mods to improve it in the future, the dialogue UI is annoying already as well.

Levelling looks to be the same? Choose major/minor skills, bases stats to level, I'll have to see what they've actually changed otherwise it might be worth revisiting the old guides to refamiliarize about the best way to go about things.

Buy this when it gets a lot cheaper or mod my existing copy of the original?

I loved playing this game years back but recently re installed it and had that moment where nostalgia hits the realisation that the graphics are.... well... somewhat lacking in the games original, un modded, state in 2025, especially the facial animations.

I'm not on game pass and not shelling out £37+ for a game this old, remastered or not.
For some reason I didn't play it first time around but seeing as I keep behind the curve flitting between console and GPU upgrades I'm not paying £38 when I've just paid twenty something for Cyberpunk and PL.

Several other things on my list to keep me busy until it drops.

E: Plus I like bugs to be ironed out before I pick games up. Well, most bugs anyway.

It's on Game Pass for those who want to pick it up without breaking the bank.

This does look impressive, I haven't been following the development but wow compared to the original it looks impressive, I think I may need to re-play this. I noticed it's about £33 on US Gamesplanet site and activates in the UK. I'll check reviews first though

There's pretty much no reason to buy a single player game at full launch pricing, from a E storefront or key site unless you really really want to play the game or for some reason having nothing on the 'waiting to be played list'

What with stuff I've bought on sale or obtained 'free' from the likes of the Epic game store I've enough content left that o could probably never buy another new game and could still have fresh play thoughs of everything I have available to download!

Unless it's a real popular game most of these titles are selling for less than half price after a year to 18 months anyway and as you say often with a few bugs ironed out.

I've had to drive to my dad's to download it on my PS5 as my Internet is down for a week while I change provider. :p Hope it doesn't require a connection to play...

Booked Thursday and Friday off too. Beautiful.

Anyone have an opinion of modded 'OG' Oblivion vs this remake excluding price considerations?

What, if anything of note, would I be missing going down the modded route on PC?

Pretty sure you didn't miss anything, from my understanding it was developed in secret, screenshots and details leaked recently and now they've just released it upon official announcement. Ballsy, and very much the thing they need to do to build some excitement around the ruins of their reputation.

Anyone able to confirm whether or not level scaling is in this? It was one of the biggest things that put me off in the original, I don't get on in games that punish me for levelling up.

It's a principle thing.

My principle is I'm.tight and like a bargain :)

The reality is I have sooooo many games to get through beforehand. I'll certainly check out some gameplay at some point, if I'd played the original id probably be picking it up straight away tbh.
