The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

But annoying, feels like this should've been done for release. So now when AMD release a product you have to weigh up if they might release a new version shortly after release with revised components, no doubt letting resale value off the original.
They had a mix of Samsung and Hynix GDDR6 on their last gen, it's nothing new for them to use different manufacturers VRAM on their boards. It was hit and miss which worked better with both providing good to poor overclocking capability. Just basically boiled down to luck.

I couldn't even tell you what my 7900 XTX had, that's how bothered I was.

thats still a £60 increase on launch, my reaper was same as pulse at £569. the $50 rebate is around say £40 so someone obviously making some extra margin out there

Agree and I do think we will see £569 again. AMD saw that it reviewed well so shifted the price but left themselves room to keep it £569 if the reviews were so not positive.

Once demand dies down I think we will see sub £600 again but I bought it now as it could be months before we do see demand drop.

Yeah it apprantly depends on the batch as the newer batches will almost certainly have the samsung GDDR6 *on the higher end models* so the only way to truly make sure you get the better VRAM is to wait until the stock of 9070XT's has been refreshed once or twice to get the Hynix stuff out of circulation
My Hellhound 9070xt has Samsung Memory - I got it on release.

AMD cards have always come with a mix of Hynix/Samsung/Micron (on the same models from the same AIB). It's not a new thing.

Samsung anecdotally were always supposed to be the better clockers at less voltage and better for flashing to a higher version card, but that is going way, way back (9700 > 9700 Pro etc).

Edit. I have a release day Taichi with Hynix.

I'll be honest, I caved and picked up a Sapphire 9070XT Pulse a few days ago. I noticed that it also has Samsung memory, it might be my OP case cooling but the memory temperature hovers around low to mid 70's while gaming.

Don't know my hellhound sits about the same in my not so op cooled nzxt h510 case ,just the card I think

More importantly in a 20c ambient room after 3 hours of warzone the main temp hovers around 45c

From what I've now gathered memory temperature will vary between games depending on how demanding they are and thus how much the fans ramp up, so it's going to need some kind of standardised test to see if there is a signifant difference between memory brands. I've now seen my Samung creep into the 80's on a not very demanding game where the fans hardly spin up.
