What did you do to your bike today?

After bemoaning the faff of disconnecting/reconnecting my battery to attach/further faff with accessories I was reminded I bought a PDM60 about 7 or 8 years ago. I failed to fit it to my old K1300S as if you look under the seat you'll find the globe trotting super machine has zero under seat storage.

Luckily the KTM 1290 GT is chock full of... air under the rear seat so I finally did some crimping, soldering etc and fit the thing. It essentially means I can attach idiot things like a rear USB port, or the heated gear tail, or the dashcam I'll probably never buy, without having to ram even more eyelets onto the battery terminals.

Only problem now is I need to find a way to make it tidy. Maybe 3D print some enclosure. Oh and because it's so old the software to configure it won't work on my Macbook, and i no longer have a Windows laptop! I really don't want to have to disconnect everything again and bring it inside to connect to my desktop.

Some tinted stuffs to murder out the front end a bit

Just the indicators to do tomorrow, and fit a camera in the nose cone (I hate having one on my crash hat as it always shows the speedo).
May look to get the rear shock set up better/stiffer, as when changing into 2nd at 80-95mph it's all over the place with the traction control on the lowest level.
I mean I could turn it off, but I don't want to get nicked (again) for wheelies (I have zero self control).

Loving it with the tint, looks mean! Did you find the tinting an easy process?

The screen was new, AliExpress £8.24 and already tinted, the headlights I just used a mild tinted window film (it looks darker than it actually is, and the LED's shine through no problem + I never ride at night).

One day! But I like to make problems for myself apparently! I ended up taking it all off again anyway to shorten some of the wires and start designing an enclosure to protect it all from my tools, puncture repair kits, compressor etc!
I really admire the skills you (and others on this forum) have to do this kind of stuff. Especially the 3D printing and creativity.

As long as whilst you're murdering you're also waving to old ladies as you ride past :D. I think it helps either give them a heart attack or make them think we're all lovely fellas :P.

I finally wired everything up again with the PDM60 this morning, thankfully the firmware update thing did its job and only 4 circuits are now live out of the 6 possible. Snipped some wires shorter and packaged it better. Printed an ugly red (i couldn't be bothered changing filament and I ran out of black a while back. 'Wood' maybe next?) cover that clips into something at the front and then is weighed down by everything else in there to keep it all tidy.

Started the bike after putting it all together and it stalled after 1-2 seconds. OK start again. Rough rough... then after about a minute it settled down. So now I'm going to be googling whether having left it completely detached from the battery overnight possibly means it needed to do some resetting/calibrating.

Well, that went well! Quick ride out to check everything still worked. And it did. But on my return - and wearing no earplugs for a change - noticed an awful squeaking from the shock area when compressing and releasing suspension. Shock itself is clean as a relatively clean whistle so I'm hoping bearings. The idiot fancy swing arm on this seems like it was designed to fill itself with crap at the shock mount and ruin bearings, so hopefully it's that.

Belatedly realised I don't need KTM to fix this, so I can skip their summer long wait and go local with any luck.

Enjoyed bum agony! Had a few spare hours today, so tried out the modded seat - and I've clearly not made the gel area large enough, as it was bloody agony!

Oh well, I'll just tweak it and it'll be grand

Edit: it seems the gel I got is a poorer quality to what I had previously; although it is thicker at nearly 2cm, you can easily push down on it and feel the surface below! So I've ordered some higher quality gel, and will sort it this week

The major thing I loathed about my S1000R was the seat, it may as well be made of stone.
Yeah the 2019 one's seat was a killer after a few hours, but with the gel I popped into that, it made it a lot more comfortable and I'd easily be able to do 6 hours non stop.

Hoping the new gel and scrim foam come tomorrow, so I can go about sorting it - wore cycling shorts the other evening to avoid the pain lol

Also bunged sugru onto the mirrors in an effort to stop vibration - initially just around the glass, as there was a gap, but have since put it on the pivot part, that attaches to the arm - they're now fixed in position unless I cut the glue off; but with any luck it might lessen the vibration over 4k revs....

Seat redone, used 'medical grade' gel this time, and 6mm scrim foam - feels lush to sit on, only a slight visible lip; which would probably be hidden if I had a custom cover but meh...

You made it an EV! Finally! Dunno why you painted the heel guard green though, surely it's going to scratch like Mr Scratchy :P.

Also as an aside, steering dampers: Is it being up top like that purely a packaging thing, as in, unlike my fatty bike yours just doesn't have the space down under to hide it? I think I answered my own question.
