BMW and M Power Owners

Lovely looking car Draeger. The red & grey looks really good (I have a G22 in the same colour but with black M Performance seats with blue stitching)

I have just put CSC7's on the car & I am very impressed with them. I see you have now gone with PS4S on the car. I would be very interested in your thoughts on the matter if you have a moment please

Thanks, I still glance backwards over my shoulder every time I park it :D

Doing some routine checks today and checked my tyre tread depths.

Previous tyres were Continental CSC7's and I couldn't fault them but when it was time to replace them I wanted to try the internet 'go to' tyre, the Michelin PS4S, so I could see if I felt any difference between them and the Continentals. I should also point out that I went for BMW OEM * marked versions of the PS4S which were ironically cheaper than non * marked for some bizarre reason.

So far I'm just as pleased with the Michelins but what I was curious about was mileage/tread wear.

My CSC7's were down to 3mm ish on the rears after about 6500 miles. The Michelins are now down to 5.5mm ish after just shy of 7000 miles so I'd guess they are potentially on track to run to maybe 9000-10000 miles before they hit 3mm. Quite a difference in longevity.

Deciding which tyres perform best would be almost impossible as they are both at the top of their game as a UHP tyre. But that wear rate might well mean that for me at least, the Michelins will be opted for again, next time.

Thanks very much Draeger for the feedback. I will have to keep an eye on the wear rates and make a decision on the future. Hopefully I get 7k out of them but I am enjoying them so much I can't see them making 5k. However, I am working on smiles per mile & they are so worth it. Will definitely look at some PS4S in the future when they are on offer

I would personally think long and hard depending on the car. I wouldn’t personally run Michelin on any performance car again as I’ve found them to wreck steering feel which is already lacking in BMWs generally.

The star marked ones will likely be better but I don’t think I’d go for anything other than Asy 6. I’ve been really happy with their performance and price, and they have ample steering feel my comparison.

I haven’t tried the star marked ones though so take my comment with a pinch of salt. You may also not even notice :)

Thank you all for your input on this matter. I don't run standard wheels on my cars. So fitment can be an issue due to size & the xdrive gearbox. I have tried different makes, models etc etc over the 30+ years I have been driving. These CSC7 give me what I want on this car at the moment & I am happy. They are now testing a new pirelli & they are saying it's going to be better than the PS4S. I will just have to see how these last (normally get through a back set very quickly as the camber is off due to lowering springs)

What is it you’re trying to do? I’ve got BimmerCode so can always pop round/vice versa
Nothing specific.. I've found some faults with my carly but the app is ass so I'd like to have something on hand to use instead.

I already bought a veepeak before I drunkenly did a carly black friday deal last year :)

You *could* buy the app check faults and then request a refund. Would be hella cheeky but if you don’t find the info that useful it would be reasonable.

Ha ha yeah I guess.. it's such a weird human nature thing... the money is nothing but for some reason I've gotten fixated on it :)

Like £60/70 on drinks.. without question. The same on a one time purchase that I can use on current and future bmws? God forbid..

All I'd need is a sale of some description to mentally allow me over the line.

Get someone to remote code it. You’ll get the software left over and then you can do much more than any of this other stuff. But I don’t know what ISTA can do on older ones.

It’s only ever gone up in price. It used to be £20 ish. I paid £33. What is it now, late 30s?

I like to support companies with a one time purchase though because I detest subscriptions and companies like Carly.

Just made an order of parts for the F30 from Autodoc.

- Engine mounts
- Track rod ends
- Shocks
- Brake pads
- Oil filter
- Fuel Filter

I did some price comparisons between Autodoc and local suppliers, some parts were 150% more expensive! lol

£30 something each yeah.

I do this a lot, I occupy my brain mulling things over until I can't take it anymore and just do something... this time it was carly which to be fair is fine but yes it's an annual thing which is annoying.

It's always the small stuff lol

Why are aftermarket cat-back exhausts so expensive on the OG M2? Comp ones are reasonable, but Eisenmann, Akroprovic (to be expected) and even Remus cat-back exhausts are £3k. Why are they almost twice the price of the M2 Comp?

Is it error codes you want to check or code new features? You’ll need to pick the right app :-)

Maybe less demand so cost of manufacturing is higher.

Anyone with a b58 get a fair bit of blue smoke after a long idle?

I was keeping the a/c on while waiting in the car for 30-45 mins. When I pulled away I noticed quite a large puff of white/blue smoke which continued for 5-10 mins then back to normal

Just wondering if that's normal for these engines or if I need to be booking it in for a check

Thats usually indicative of burning oil, no idea how normal it is though on those engines
