Andor (Star Wars)

I thought i heard some of them speak German as well. I always thought English was viewed as High Gothic the universal language like (40K) but that just an assumption.
Basic its called in Star Wars land. Like English became the language of commercial and industrial interest.
(I've played a lot of star wars MMOs when I was younger lol)

My take. They all spoke a mix of German and French sounding language, which really sets up for a ww2 resistance vibe with the backdrop of a Gaudiesq/art deco 20s/30s feel.

I think i already said but i love this ****.
It makes it a lot like 40k where you can have any influence you want mixed in and plop it on a city/planet/hive and then bounce horrific demons into it or glorious space Romans or anything your LSD addled brain can come up with.

That's the part of Star Wars I don't enjoy - Nothing in SW should look or sound like anything we have in the real world. It should be familiar enough in context that we can tell what something is, but it should never be anything like what we actually have.

Hmm ok literally everything in Star wars looks like something real :p
The prequels get whimsical but everything else, I dunno well we all have different opinions. Literally all sci-fi is an analogy of our history.

I just caught up with the latest three episodes.

Part of me is wondering if they decided to release in groups of three because the pacing is terrible, don't get me wrong I'm enjoying the season but it's not on par with the first and a lot of content is useless fluff. Can you imagine if they released the first 2 or so episodes monthly, and it was entirely around the idiot standoff where the MC was trying to escape? It would be laughed into oblivion, there's good parts but there's a lot of utter poop too and I'm wondering what the hell was going on to lead to this. There's chunks which feel quality wise on par with The Acolyte and then there's the tight, well told gritty storytelling we'd expect from the original season interspersed.

I'm starting to wonder if the most memorable thing about this entire show long term will be the rave droid scene.

It resembles reality in terms of the context, but without looking exactly like it.
Landspeeders, for example - You have some that look sporty, some luxury or executive, and some that look like absolute old bangers, but they all look like spacey vehicles. Skeleton Crew broke this with the speeders that looked like 1950s Chevrolets.
You can parallel the French Resistance perfectly well, without needing to put everyone in stripey shirts and berets.

They have them ones that look like Vespa's too, I particularly liked them, I dunno if you've seen 'em.

I have a French brother in law, who used to live here, we used to joke about all French people riding bicycles with baguettes and berets and stripey t-shirts etc
he moved back to France and the very first time we visited, he picked us up from the airport and on the corner leaving the car park is a French man on a bicycle in a stripey t-shirt with a beret on and a baguette under his arm - "I WAS RIGHT!" was all I could shout as we drove past :D

Done 6 episodes now.

It's a decent cold war spy thriller, but that's about it.

Bix - how many times do we need to shown she's haunted and a drug user?

Ep6 picked up a bit, hopefully it's getting better - but disappointed in this season.

Feels like a problem that stems from the stupid release schedule. On a weekly release, her arc would feel much more naturally paced, but dropped in trios the reminders come too quickly.

They spoke neither French nor German, but rather languages with a bit of the sound of them. I really liked it. I thought it gave a really authentic feel to the languages. Something that Star Wars languages have traditionally lacked.
