NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

he goes of on a rant about why 9070xt is better than 5070ti, 5080 and 4090 but with some caveats like bad Nvidia drivers, crashes, missing ROP, catching fire etc etc, also super variants 7-15% faster with more ram and possibly faster clocked hence where the performance comes from.

frankly myself no point 24GB on a card that's slower than 4090. Really need 5080ti with 24GB and decent price, not this silly prices.

Thats got to be another NVidea driver **** up or some weird coding bug in Veilguard
With the 5500 XT and 6500 XT, the reason was usually because it ran out of VRAM and that increases the use of the bus, so I'd guess that's what we're seeing with the 5060 Ti, but I don't know if the worst hit games are the ones with the highest VRAM usage.

Played with Alphacool waterblock today. I like the looks and build quality, the 5090 runs much cooler now, but the coil whine is a lot louder though.
The Zotac backplate was apparently plastic and it was used as passive heatsink because Zotac used thermal pads between the backplate and the VRAM. No wonder the VRAM was Idling at 70C.
At least now I am back to 100% watercooled.

Thanks mate. The block looks good

Don't think my zotac vram has been idling at 70. Not going to suggest it's great either though, it's usually 5 to 10c above the gpu temp.

Hi I received my msi trio 5090 about a week ago now and ever since all ive had is a nightmare. It crashes about 15mins into literally every game and ive tryed a lot of things online to fix it. Does anyone have a idea on what I should do? Any fixes your aware of, is this the norm? or once again have I been delt a duff? Thanks guys

I recently bought the same card and i had issues with the latest drivers and playing certain games. Swapping to the January drivers fixed these issues for myself.

Ok so ive tryed upto 4 drivers back from the one recently released. Games are like days gone, outlast trials, forza 4, literally lots of games. The crash is usually a desktop crash some and sometimes with a games error. Usually id think thats the fault of the game but ive tryed everything and its so similar between all games im just thinking its the card and how it works with the games, hence the driver but changing so far has not fixed it. Just put adapter power lead rather than the one which came with my psu (although readings seem fine via sensors). Can you please note the version you got it to work with Soulja, thankyou both for your offers of help!!

Astral? Does it pull full 600 watts on Steal Nomad without crash?
Pcie setting on motherboard set to auto? Pcie 4 or 5 board?
PSU wattage?
Memory settings?
Sounds like drivers/heat build up?
Just board blasting, never easy these issues.
Latest driver been fine with my Astral, others have had this sort on crash, though probably the undervolt settings.

What AMDPower said and FSR4 is coming to RDNA3.
There's already support for it on Linux. I don't have an RDNA3 card to test with, but reports are that performance is pretty bad compared to RDNA4 due to missing native FP8.

Whats the point of me keeping this card because if it only works with jan drivers then all the latest games which come out ill probably have diminished performance if it runs at all. Soulja did you return yours?

Is that official support or hacked to work on RDNA3? The PS5 PRO is getting a version of FSR4 but supports INT8 and not FP8 AFAIK. RDNA3 supports INT8.

It isn't a driver issue IMHO. It's because the card is paging into system RAM which is much slower, and the PCI-E bandwidth can affect this. The 16GB doesn't need to do this

It's currently enabled using a custom patched driver, with vkd3d (dx12 to vulkan translation layer) and optiscaler.
Performance on RDNA4 is fine, so likely just the result of missing hardware support in RDNA3, which who knows, may be possible to optimise for.
It may require a lot more than that which is likely why AMD are not jumping to confirm anything.

They will probably release a variant once it can be made to work on the PS5 PRO. But I expect it to probably to use a simpler algorithm overall.
