*** Car Wash / Valet / Detailing Thread ***

I had that last summer on mine, luckily the ceramic coating took the brunt of it.

Days after polishing the roof to get the bird poo etching out…

“Hey google, how do I build a shotgun with automated targeting for birds?”

I know you'll probably be fine, but there'd always be a thought in the back of my head when re-using a sprayer for paintwork after having harsh garden chemicals in it. I'd use separate ones.
yes I got one with a big fill cap(design I hadn't seen before) so that I can even put a brush in, for a full rinse (the radiator brush I'd also used on screen wash tank - but the blood tank on the audi is now less accessible than bm)
and decant if I have stuff left.

how long had it dwelled .. from your comments on detailing thought you have good sacrificial polishes on your cars ..
will go out with a bucket of water today for one that has been baking for a couple of days on mine,

A day at most. I had used the Rupes Uno Advanced which is supposed to have a protective coating built into it.

My experience would now tell me otherwise!

Anyone have tips on how to look after leather?

My Cayman is less than 3 years old and the leather is already looking a bit weathered. I've got autoglym leather balm which I've used once but wasn't too convinced of the results.

Need to do a quick snowfoam at some point.. got a lot of marks over my car from the general atmosphere...

Watering down with a hose is not doing it .

My last wax still holding strong. Probably another 3 months before it needs another going over with polish and wax

Edit I would also like to know about what to use on leather ? Any good tips for good leather care protection and a nice long lasting black finish? (Door trimmings and seat upholstery)

I've always liked the Gliptone stuff for leather.

“Hey google, how do I build a shotgun with automated targeting for birds?”

I have two small areas which need bird poop etching polishing out, next door neighbour feed the birds, this usually attracts Pigeons which take a huge dump as they fly over our house inevitably covering both cars once every couple of days. :o

Meanwhile, their vehicle and house roof has some sort of invisible barrier around it and remains untouched by poop.

I had ran out of Pre Wash products, so decided to foam with Shampoo prior to rinse, then foamed again before contact wash.

Autobrite Wheels & Tyre for the Wheels/Tyres - I applied with an IK Foamer, initially allowed to dwell before agitating with a detail brush and barrel brush.

I used Car Plan Supergloss as my LSP, applying to wet panels as I dried the car, effortless to apply and leaves the paintwork feeling super slick, reflective and hydrophobic, hidden gem of a cheap product IMO.

Hi guys,

Does anyone have experience with the "Nennette Car Duster"? I ordered it and found it small for my use on the car.
I am about to return it but wanted to check if anyone has experience with these and/or can recommend an alternative product.

TIA.

Assuming interior, then I dont use brushes

I use my hoover , which has always blower function then,

Rinseless wash with a microfiber towel or interior clean and protect with a microfiber

Just exterior. Hoover for interior.

don't use a duster on the exterior, EVER !

i use this :

you can actually wash the car with it , as its that safe

I use it for Wheels, tyres, Grills, and badges

well worth the money

I just wanted one to remove surface dust. I have had experience with the waxed cotton bristles one in my home country.

I will check out the one you have linked. Cheers! :)

if its just surface dust
i.e. you have washed it, got to a show and its dusty, use waterless wash and a microfiber towel, as "dry" applicators will mar the paint

Below is what I have/had. It is very effective.

Edit: I agree it should not be done on accumulated dust that is sticking to the car exterior.

I’m not sure how safe it would be because the main issue with brushes is that they don’t allow dirt to embed itself into the bristles.

The bristles may be soft and movable but they ultimately are still rigid.

My comparison, and the reason they’re good, microfibre wash mitts are plush and deform when the dirt is pushed into it, so that the mitt doesn’t push back as hard on the paint

I know it says it’s safe for paint but I’d never use anything other than a microfibre wash mitt

Gyeon Leather cleaner and Gtechniq L1, then use Dr Leather Cleaning Wipes, every other week.
