Still shiny after 20 years

Always wanted to drive one of these. Is the engine still good for 9000rpm?

You can bounce it off the limiter 24/7.

Shame they are so unpredictable once the rear steps out, if you aren't quick enough, in the best case scenario it'll end in a spin out and a hurt pride.

Every day I drive it it gets redlined. It's actually good for the engine to run it in to and out of VTEC regularly. Keep the solenoids and everything else working nicely.

It's not too bad as long as you aren't transitioning 6k rpm with it stepped out. The issue is that it can be in a nice slide and then you hit 6k and the back just comes round on you.

What's the mileage on it out of interest? I have a CTR EP3 on around 120k that is demoted to a runabout. Can't remember last I red-lined it, too worried about my licence.

Bought this about a week ago,

Audi TTRS - 2010, Stage 2.

Running about 410bhp, pulls like a train and the 5 cyl sounds *** awesome!

Have all sorts of EV's and fast cars try to race me and they don't stand a chance, the AWD trumps all.

- PS it also as a full through miltek stainless exhaust with a sports cat haha :)

Congrats on your purchase. Is there anything to look out for these engines? As I remember they share the same with the rs3 of that generation?

Yeah its the same engine in the RS3.

The Haldex for the AWD system is a known problem, mechanics often recommend that you replace the pump every so often. It's been done recently on this one.

The clutch is known for going, but this has been replaced at an AUDI garage recently too.

Regular maintenance keeps these engines going forever.

Nice!

only in a straight line - good luck keeping up in any corners! haha

What's the engine sound like?

Haha, yeh it wouldnt keep up in the corners. It isn’t too awful in the bends, but you can feel its weight and its not as pointy/precise as a true hot hatch or sports car. Fantastic smooth shove of acceleration though and there is a bit of fun to be had in the corners.

I like the futuristic whir of the electric motors :p

I do love the TTRS though. Nice colour too.

Run a standalone ECU or Hondata (for DBW) and get the VTEC engagement lowered to ~4k. Completely removes the 15-20 pony punch at 6k. Also increases drivability massively as you can run really advanced ignition timing and lean AFRs at low RPM.
