Doctor Who

She isn't going to be the Doctor, even in the end credits she wasn't listed as the Doctor.
I think one of the things is, although we can theorise that this isn't going to be the case (Billie not listed as The Doctor), the thing is, this is not a guarantee. For all we know, they want the speculation but Billie really is the next Doctor and they won't go with the name until next episode. So I wouldn't put the lack of introducing who Billie is playing as hard proof she is not, it's certainly compelling, but not a hard lock.

I think it's RTD just taking one last massive steaming **** on the franchise. Will be interesting to see when we next see a new series, viewing figures are awful for this series and if Disney aren't stumping up £100m or whatever it was for 2 series I don't see the BBC spending anywhere near as much money.

It really seems like they have ruined Who out of pure spite, because the fandom almost wholly rejected their direction and politics they just cranked the lectuing up to 11, now they have a walking corpse of an IP, and the BBC doesn't seem to mind one jot. And it is this factor, that the BBC has just happily watched it die, which leads me to believe all that mattered to them was that DW was out there as a flagship of their DEI agenda. There's no need for drag acts in a light Sci-Fi show aimed at children and families in a tea time slot, but there they were anyway...

The whole post Capaldi era has been propaganda.

Sounds about right. She looked in to the Tardis, or something, didn't she? So, my guess is she is just temporary until they find another doctor.

I think it's a shame old what’s-his-name left. I think he misinterpreted many peoples reaction to the last season. It wasn't him that was the problem, it was the stories.

Whilst for the show, that's certainly true, there was talk even last year about Ncuti's behaviour on and off set; unsure if it was just Bale intensity for the show, or diva personality. Then of course, recent drama over politics likely helped in ending their run (Song contest no show).

Quite surprised to be honest on how many actors are so poorly media trained. There's a time and place to air what you want to put out, and then there's work where it's work only.

I'll go with the latter :D

I’m really struggling to keep watching.
There’s been no bite to any of the characters this series, both the actors and RTD.

I remember Kate O’Mara’s The Rani being malevolent and charismatic, this one when she was in Unit HQ was more like a wimpy supply teacher.

Because of the licence fee extortion racket they have going on, they get paid either way. A show this bad would have been cancelled years ago on a platform which actually had to compete.

But the BBC can continue to pump out junk and DEI properganda which no one is watching, because it's done with tax payers money. They can't fail and that's the issue.

People are still watching though. Have you seen the top 10 of week 12-18 May? Who was 7th most watched show of the week and only the top 3 shows managed over 5 million viewers. Even the FA Cup only had 3.66 million viewers. Linear TV viewing is in free fall just now. It's not exclusively Who that not many are watching. Most of the top 10 shows have between 3-4 million viewers. Compare that to ten years ago. It's halved. FA Cup final 2015 got over 8 million.

I hardly ever watch live TV.

To be honest I don't watch much TV full stop, watch the occasional Grand Designs on channel 4 online thing, watch Neighbours on Amazon (yea sad I know) and that's about it.

As for Dr who, it's been awful for a while, other than the odd one here and there over the last 10 years, and that's only because I've been round someone else's and they've had it on.

The BBC need to lose their law enforced scam fee, and go to a subscription based service, but too many fingers in each others ........... to let that happen.

I watch it in the hope it will improve but its been pretty dire since Capaldi really and he wasn't great. Needs to get back to the good storylines like when Matt Smith was the Dr, just focus on entertainment rather than trying to cram in as many diversity actors as they can.

Capaldi could have been awesome as the Doctor - he did have a couple of good episodes. But the writing/stories were what let him down, really did him a diservice.

We'll see what the next regeneration brings!

I hate to be that guy, but as soon as Ncuti started prancing around in what looked like a Dutch lady's blue dress that pretty much finished off any credibility the episode might have had. Someone definitely needs to tell RTD, fine we get you have a LGBT agenda to pursue, but take it somewhere other than Doctor Who.

That plus the unconvincing monster and the ridiculous Poppy sub story which dragged the whole thing out at the end. The time would have been better spent bringing David Tennant in as his "split" half so the pair regenerated together.

Convinced the Rose Tyler thing is a bit of misdirection.

Considering this may be the last Doctor Who for a very long time, the whole Ncuti epoch was a huge let down and this episode was an insult to all the past Doctors (even McCoy and Whitaker) on which to finish it.

It was a blue pin stripe waistcoat and kilt with trousers under it. More to do with Ncuti classing himself as scottish and much less to do with LGBTQ+.

I did laugh at the joke about Tennant being that guy who always turns up.

I stand corrected... about the kilt! :)

Who's viewing figures fall week to week...that has nothing to do wioth long term trends.

Matt Smith was really good, he got lucky with a load of really good scripts. Capaldi would have been great as well but his first season had poor scripts, his later series were much, much better, Bill was really good as was Matt Lucas to be fair, it's difficult to top Matt Smith, Amy, Rory, River Song though.

Jodie Whitaker would have been decent as well but she had some very poor material to work with and too many companions.

Genuinely the best ever moment for Jodie was in Saturday's finale. That short scene was probably her best written and acted sequence.
