Just ordered a small private server for my gaming buddies and colleagues that are going to play. Let's see how it performs on launch day..... I'm sure it'll go swimmingly!

It’s a private server. It will be fine!!!

Theres several hundred in the deep desert but to be fair to Funcom I dont believe they've ever claimed its an MMO, I think they've always referred to it as a multiplayer survival game.

Ordered the Ultimate Edition and have a few days off work so look forward to playing.

Didn’t play the beta have no idea what it’s about but I’m a sucker for an MMO/MMO Lite (I understand this isn’t a proper mmo)

So anyone got any tips for starting off so I don’t waste hours on the wrong thing.

So anyone got any tips for starting off so I don’t waste hours on the wrong thing.

Build your first base as per the quest somewhere in the north and center of hagga basin south so you are in equal distance to the trade post and crash site. You could build right next to the testing center given you need to do a full run there for your 1st bike and land wont be an issue down there given its only a small base.

Get your copper ore and water sorted asap, you will need to cook ingots and drink from your water storage for the quest line. You can collect dew from plants at night and you can also drink from collected blood - look at unlocking and crafting a literjon, blood extractor and blood sack asap

I'm looking forward to this even if I don't need another time sink hobby / game to sink my teeth into. While I'm not sure I'll be playing it after a month, I can easily see myself come back semi regularly to have another bash and waste time building a cool base.

Just keep in mind once you stop paying the monthly sub the server gets wiped and your character goes bye bye, At least with the official servers there's a semblance of character security.

Apparently it could be a swatch for Plastine according to some commenters.

If its anything like other games private servers you can back it up and restore it if you wish to come back later

Maybe that will eventually be an option but right now it's not, Options right now are extremely limited.
