Graphics Card Warranties (UK Only) - Let's see how good they really are!

My MSI 5090 went faulty after 3 weeks and i put a RMA in that took around a week to get a response, but once the ball was rolling, it's didn't take long at all to arrange the collection and to also process the refund. Adam W was very responsive and helpful once he picked up the ticket.
Oh Im hoping thats a good sign then. Not sure what theyre gonna offer if its a more serious unrepairable issue though. Not gonna give me a like for like performance are they, that would require them supplying me a 5090 at the current ridiculous prices. Im hoping for a repair as I want to keep my white aethetics intact for my build!

Im hoping the chart on page 1 is still pretty accurate. I have a ASUS STRIX 4090 OC White thats just started to overheat to ridiculous temps. Card is 8 months old! Soon as I lanch ANY game it immediately ramps to 100% fan speed and hits 90C within a few seconds and Hotspot hits 110C. Had to back out. Emailed OCUK on tuesday and havent even had a reponse yet. Kinda hoping its a thermal paste issue but Ill let the warranty and RMA cover that, this was NOT a cheap card as everyone knows.

It's not like they had much of a choice if it failed within 30 days and they had no stock.

Old post, but the card was 8 months old so getting a refund was a good result.

I know technically within 12 months you should get one anyway, but some retailers would make you jump through a large amount of hoops.

With Zotac having a potential 5 years warranty, makes them a really good choice, just for peace of mind alone.

After finding out my Suprim Liquid would only be covered for two years having bought it elsewhere (thought it was for 3)

but as it's shops that deal with it, it can vary after chatting with MSI support also to confirm. So good on OCUK for going with 3 as expected there.

I'm tempted to get a zotac aio with this in mind, as more points of failure

that 5 years is more than enough time for even another buyer to have peace of mind with the GPU

Not something I've considered to be honest when buying a GPU really but essential for an AIO variant I think, longer the better.

And Zotac have a UK RMA centre, most AIBs do not AFAIK (Gigabyte do in Milton Keynes IIRC).

Two year warranty on high end GPUs should be illegal, especially >£2k RTX 5090. I think the cheap brands like Palit only offer 2 years on their 5090s.

Yeah I'm considering the Zotac AIO/Aorus Waterforce AIO also for that very reason 5 and 4 years if registered is enough to consider either.

Read a German review and the Zotac aio goes to toe with the suprim liquid but fans don't go idle which is a shame.

That or just going with the Astral OC (which is priced competitively atm in black) but may be sold out before I bite, if I decide to buy brand new again.

For what we're paying 100% agree warranty for 3 years even seems too low with the risks attached.

Yep, 4 or 5 years is a must for an AIO. I've not actually looked into the 'new' Zotac AIO given it arrived post-launch and after I nabbed my FE. Will have to check it out. Shame the fans don't idle though. I'd definitely want that if I used my PC for daily tasks and not just gaming.

Apparently it's still acceptably quiet, but just something that should be there that isn't for some reason, apparently the base zotac has it, even on 5080's so a strange omission.

I just like the reduction in temps with the AIO's this time round and not hearing fans ramp up as much to a more audible level is basically how I'm justifying the extra spend :D

Problem is if I get one with bad coil whine, I'll get be gutted to let the Liquid go, due to the warranty situation, not performance.

I am just paranoid about stuff going wrong so the thought of an AIO gives me nightmares. I completely understand how why you'd want one though. Having said that, I would like to try one at some point ;)

With an undervolt, I find even the FE to be perfectly fine temperature and fan speed wise (even during the summer and without AC on).
