Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

I skipped the 9 series because I honestly think my 8 Pro is perfect as it is, and I may well skip the 10 (X?) series this year, too - which is unusual for me as I generally upgrade every year and can't remember the last time I took a phone into year 3.
The 8 Pro is definitely a great phone. I love mine and have no plans to replace it any time soon. I'll get at least three years out of it.

The 10 series already looks like a disappointment due to no new camera hardware and the design of the 9 which I don't like.

Will also probably hang on to the 8 Pro for another year which is no bad thing. Still runs great.

i see in pixel 9 thread that latest update affected some batteries...not sure when a recent update came for 8 but in last week, my pro battery lost like half its capacity - in terms of use

I've noticed the same since the last big update. My battery goes so much quicker now. I wasn't sure if it was the update or not as I have an app that needs constant connection to an external, medical device and so assumed that this was using the battery and that the battery was getting older.

Ah it's not just me then....

No, not just you. When I'm in the office I usually end the day in 30-40% battery being on 5G. I refuse to connect to company WiFi.

Days I'm working at home, I would finish the day on 50-60% battery left and not bother charging it.

I've barely used my phone today as been busy but worked at home all morning, I'm now at 32%. SOT 3hrs 50mins.

I was at a concert last night and it's the first time I've really used my P8 Pro camera zoom in low light. Picture quality is amazing, particularly when compared to my daughter's iPhone.

after being not that impressed by the video output from my Pixel 8 Pro I bought Motioncam Pro yesterday

and the results are fantastic

can record in 10 bit H265 up to 240Mbps or in Prores, or even in RAW video

can also define colour space and transfer function

results are very very good

Thought I had installed a large update last night but doesn't look any different, I wanted the battery percentage in the battery icon but it's just the same as it was and no transparency

Reading up on A16. It comes in 2 parts with the major UI elements in the 2nd update.
I hope it's nothing as bad as Samsung's recent OneUI (?) update. That update seems to be hated by a lot of people.

Installed it no issues on my 8 Pro but not noticed any differences yet !
How long did it take to install? My phone has been at the optimising stage for about 10 minutes now.
