Dune: Awakening

Gutted. Got the part moving to the second area. Packed up my bike with extra Storage. Put all the rarer mats in my inventory and on the bike. Crammed everything worth taking. Jumped on the bike, pressed forward... and the Game crashed. Reloaded as quick as I could but was stood naked in the middle of the desert . Everything gone. (Thought you respawned in your base?)

Had to spend awhile getting mats to rebuild a bike and stillsuit and weapons and everything wouldn't have minded if it was my fault.

Bit unlucky. Today is the coriolis storm plus global launch so servers would have been affected.

I did that move at few days ago. Some very close calls with the worms - i would have cried had i lost everything.

Thoroughly enjoying this so far. I'm 40ish odd hours in and in the aluminium tier, with mates well above that who have been no life'd the game :D

There's enough story linked to the missions and faction rep that is quite engaging. The scan ore nodes (doors etc.) and then cut in specific places is a nice wee touch. It adds a few seconds and is enough to keep it a bit engaging. A combination of what they've done and how things work, it's just a fun game.

Does have issues of course, yesterday the server was awful, major desync etc. They've added a lot of QOL things but equally have missed quite a few ones I think of as obvious; such as naming or colouring storage chests.
My main base is up north on a nice rock spire, middle enough of the map to have good air and ground access. Fairly close to Pinnacle station.

I'd already had a scout up there and got to the city. So i was planning on just flying there from the city in the first area. The plan was not to risk any of it :(

Is abandoning the base a main part of the game. Im not massively into the base building aspect so will just keep it minimal until you settle somewhere longer term?

I tried the beta and enjoyed it, had some issues with stuttering and instability but like the idea etc, bought it and for me seems to be just as bad or worse, I was getting lots of stutters and pop in of textures no matter how high or low I set the graphics, on a 1Gb internet as well. Ended up requesting a refund but will see how it develops.

I managed to lose everything after driving through quicksand :o I must remember to check the map next time :D

My friend has a private server for this but I've not played the beta so don't really want to drop £40 on it. Not going to know in 2h if Ill enjoy it.

After finally getting my private server up a few days ago (had to switch providers) it’s been a great blast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just around the 35 hour mark (40 if you included waiting for my original server to never appear), there’s so much to explore which takes a while and you quite easily can lose 3 hours in the blink of an eye.

Few bits of typical “Funcom funk” in terms of bugginess and getting locked in melee combat with an NPC where I couldn’t disengage at all and died wasn’t fun. Hate shielded mobs

Roll on another session tomorrow.

Each session feels like an expedition. You need to plan your water / loadout etc and truely is a relief getting back to your base dodging search ships, worms / dehydration/ sand storms.

Downloaded last night. Won't get a chance to play it until after work though.

Probably a bad purchase given I don't have much time to play at present and my pc doesn't have a permanent home.. currently in a room I am mudding/plastering.

Best game of this genre I've played in a long time. Has aspects of all RPGs and survival games and is very enjoyable. Doesn't feel grindy.

It's like Destiny meets No Mans Sky with elements of DayZ etc. thrown in. Very, very good so far. Rather impressed.
Thanks, used to play Destiny back in the old days. Will try it.

Yes, pretty game. I've been playing exclusively with a controller on a 4k oled. I have the 8bit ultimate 2 - switched the colours over to a Dune orange :)
