Dune: Awakening

I really should stop mucking about building my base and actually go out and do some quests and stuff :)

Couldn't imagine playing without rtx HDR. Game looks absolutely stunning. Could badly do with some ray reconstruction though. #RTXON
It’s far from absolutely stunning. It looks decent but that’s about it. Also runs like ****.

It’s 90% sand and 10% copypasta buildings. Pretty much everything looks the same.

I've been trying to find out if the game plays well solo? As far as I can tell it get a bit too hard end game. I've played just about every survival game out there, but at the price its probably worth finding out if this will be a 200 hour game or 70 hour game for me. Loved Conan if thats any comparison, played on servers but never joined a guild. I dont mind a bit of PvP but have always stayed with PvE on these types of games.

Conan is a good comparison, endgame is definitely much more doable grouped rather than solo, if you ignore endgame theres still probably 100 hours of non-endgame solo content, longer if you like base building or 100%-ing the quests/"collectibles". It ought to tide me over nicely until Abiotic Factor gets its 1.0 release or Arc Raiders releases :)

On max settings, performance is good here, without FG, it's about 80+ fps with dlss balanced and with mfg x3, sitting at 170 fps. The only issue is occasional traversal stutter.

I don't disagree on the last point, however, there is a good enough amount of variety with the different biome areas and the buildings do change it up a bit across each region too. Some of the interiors for the landmarks to be cleared a enormous, granted not filled with detail but it captures the dune atmosphere very well.

Funcom (of old) built one of THE BEST SciFi MMORPGs ever (Anarchy Online), so I have sort of high hopes for this, plus it's a great universe as well.

My friend convinced me to join. Only four of us on the server so wont be any nonsense. Will start it later.

I know nothing about the setting other than the spice thing so some stuff may be lost on me but whatever.

Edit. Refunded. I suspect this is aimed at fans of the franchise because without that, it just feels like a very janky survival crafter which are ten a penny.

Biggest tip I have is stick with it, It can get difficult, Resource management, Losing equipment etc... but when you've sorted out your proper base, Got resource/water management down, It all nicely falls into place.

My Atreides warehouse base in prime real estate location by the ironworks & testing station 13.

Ground floor is living quarters (no photos sorry and now down for patch) and a two way drive through for the buggy with ceiling hatch up to the hangar.
First floor is crafting, second floor is the hangar for scout ornis, third floor is for the carrier orni

I then expanded outwards to have another hangar for the assault orni and build the windtraps and wind turbines around it.

Refiners are in circuits to dump into chests (fill your station slots with 1 solari)

Looking good. An insane number of turbines and traps though, I'm surprised you can support all that solo.

I've been having to work so far less play time than I'd want but have a nice base near Pinnacle and the west end of the chasm. I don't have the Atreides set yet (only Hark) so have gone for the brick pillar temple look. Have also got a guild base which has been interesting with everyone sharing resources...

One issue I've not seen anything about is if you stop playing or take a break, how do you restart? There's a tiny amount you can store in the bank and odds are you won't farm enough fuel to keep a base up.
