Samsung Galaxy S25 Family Thread

The what doesn't what?
Before the update, I could see the volume level with a numeric value. Now that's disappeared.

I know I'm being pedantic but that's an app, not the OS. I get it might have changed but nothing has changed for people not using good lock?

Reliable tipster Ice Universe has claimed that Samsung won't bring major camera hardware upgrades for the next two years. Apparently, the Galaxy S26 series will have largely the same camera configuration as the Galaxy S25. Samsung is reportedly pursuing thin and light phones, as seen with the Galaxy S25 Edge, so it is not possible for the company to bring bigger camera sensors.
And it's not just the company's pursuit of thin and light phones that's holding back camera upgrades. The tipster claims that Samsung's smartphone division is cutting corners because it needs to bring as much profit as possible, as Samsung Electronics' chip divisions are struggling despite billions of dollars in investments. So, the mobile division needs to make up for that by holding back hardware improvements and depend on AI features to market its phones.

Fantastic Samsung if true

Not surprising really for the past few years Samsung has stagnated in the pursuit of cost cutting yet still charge top dollar for it's phone's.

Among the fixes, the patch notes highlight fixes for the "fingerprint trustlet," which should block attackers from gaining "improper" access to your device. Moreover, there's a fix included to correct a "ScreenCapture for Galaxy Watch" issue that was previously reported in December 2024.

Chancing my luck here, but anyone got a code for the Samsung Extra trade in discount? Tempted with the S25U and that would tip over the edge to a yes :D

So currently i'm using my Samsung Fold 5 that i've been using for almost 2 years and there are currently some decent deals on the S25U here in NZ. I can get $1200 off it (RRP here is $2400) on a $90/month unlimited everything and free netflix etc, or I can get $800 off on a $65/m contract (which is my current contract). The way contracts work over here is you get the phone interest free and choose your contract length from anywhere between 12 months and 36 months and pay the phone off in that contract time. I usually go for 18 months, though with the Fold 5 i went for 24 months). So In this case, i'd choose the S25U on a 18 month contract at $65 a month, which would cost me a total of $148 a month for 18 months for phone and monthly tarriff (About £70 a month).

However.....

I'm also tempted by the Xiaomi 15 Ultra for the better camera system, but I keep reading about the much inferior Hyper OS, and the AI features aren't as good. But the phone to buy outright (and we get the better Chinese version here with bigger battery etc) is currently on sale for $1850NZ (about £900) without a contract, but i'd still go on the contract i'm currently on at $65 a month anyway (not loads of choice here in NZ and i'm happy with what I already have.)

I've always used Samsung and have most of the ecosystem (watch / Buds).

So to summarize, what would you choose?

S25U for $1500
or
Xiaomi 15 Ultra

(I'd choose the vivo X200 ultra but that's not available here fwiw)

Just bought the S25 Edge out of sheer curiosity got 14 days to test it out and decide if it worth keeping or sending back.
Up to now I'm pretty impressed with it brilliant in the pocket even with case on it still feels super slim & light.
Battery life is the biggest concern but it been fine it's lasting all day at work, coming home with 60% vs 71% on the S25 Ultra.
Don't game on phones so will never throttle it.
Loosing out on a couple of camera's but i can live with that.
Overall it a very nice phone had people at work wanting to have a look at it due to how thin it is.
S25 Ultra feels like your holding a heavy brick when I've been using the S25 Edge all day.
I'm probably going to end up keeping it and selling the S25 Ultra on.

I’m tempted. I love the profile. Tom the Tech Champ reported that his bent but doesn’t know how.

What’s the battery life like when using light performance mode instead of standard?

What case do you have, can you share some pictures? Thanks.
