MSI 26.5" MPG 272URX QD-OLED 240Hz 26.5" 4K Monitor

In my experience, 32” 16:9 is just a little unpleasant for some use cases… it feels a little nauseating for FPS games even with my super mega-deep desk. It’s just too tall.

4k 27” 16:9… yum yum.

Also isn't windows scaling quite poor? So it's best leaving to 100%. Although I do use 125% on both of my displays 1440p 27" and 1220p 16"

I try to choose ppi where a bit of windows scaling is required to make things look bigger, use native display resolution. And I games run native with no scaling and if possible no AA to lessen burden of GPU. No dlss/fsr.

I try not use games scaling as I go back to dos and windows 3.1 era so native in games was always the right way although with TVs and video always have to scale dvd to 1080p or SD to 4k etc so similar in principles to fsr and dlss

No I am talking about 32" 16:9, that's where I find the height a little too much personally for me. I know others don't mind it but I found it a significant change from 27" (which should have been obvious to me considering the size difference!).

I don't mind Windows scaling, I blow hot and cold with it. I'm currently running my 1440p OLED at 125% because I found it mostly sorted out text fringing and helped with eye strain on reading big chunks of text. I've definitely preferred to run at 100% in the past but for now I'm ok with 125% at 1440p.
 
New to OLED monitors - some people / websites have mentioned there is flickering with this model. While I understand this is possible with any OLED how much of an inconvienance is it / noticeable on this monitor ?

Should only happen during gaming in certain dark scenes with VRR I believe? Should flicker at all for general use and if you turn variable refresh off it shouldn’t flicker at all. Unless I am mistaken.
 
This specific model is currently 550 at a load of UK retailers. Feel like it’s a great deal for a 27” 4k 240hz monitor with DP 2.1 and 90w of usb-c charging.

Has anyone who bought one earlier in the year still got it and think it’s worth it at 550?

Are we the same person :D may order one tonight, had one earlier in the year at the crazy launch price looking back now at £999.99 or whatever it was.

OLED prices are hitting a good price range now, it won't be as bright as the 500Hz model however, otherwise insane ppi, and if pressed on whether to pick 500Hz or 27" 4K I think 27" 4K wins for me.

If you want brightness the other displays you've bought have it beat, but extra sharpness to text and games this is the one.

Haha I was thinking this earlier, every time I see a specific monitor thread or one I’m considering buying I’m 50/50 that you’re probably also considering it.

I reckon dream pairing for me is going to be the 500hz 1440p alongside one of these 27” 4k 240hz ones - I just never really go for dual monitors. Might try them out at least and see how it goes!

Yeah exact set up I'm going to end up with as well, most likely, but I am prone to selling a display if I'm not using it all the time (would probably be the 500Hz if novelty wore out) But it's also the reason I'm gaming 24/7 at the moment so we will see.

For the price they're available at brand new now I couldn't resist and just ordered one for delivery tomorrow :D

Another thing that's better about the 500Hz display is the 24 hour pixel refresh cycle so I never need to be forced to use it, sometimes I do end up hitting the 16 hour timers :D so that will annoy me at some point, don't like how it forces you in that end game time limit to comply with disregard to what you may be doing.

But until there's a significant upgrade to these displays, way to go for 4K imo, only better option is the ASUS is you want the proximity sensor + Dolby vision, but no deals like this yet... for them.

Put my order in for the 272URX now as well and picked up a 2m DP 2.1 cable as well, not sure I can deal with a 1m cable and the stress that brings with having to re-route everything.

Price seems really great at 550 - considering a few months ago they were just under a grand!

I reckon I'll treat the next few weeks as a trial comparison between the MSI 240hz 4k, the 500hz 1440p and the 280hz tandem WOLED and see which I end up using the most/enjoying the most - and maybe then I'll stop buying monitors...

Hopefully it's of acceptable performance, but I have a feeling it's going to be the dimmest of the 3, especially if you're maxing out the eotf setting on the 500Hz :D with it been less impacted by ABL

If the tandem blows the socks off the other two that'll be interesting information also in terms of sdr brightness and HDR impact, wonder if the gap is minor or massive.

Looks like you've got all bases covered to get a lay of the land.

Apparently it was a firmware update where they changed it from 16 hours to 24 hours - which is definitely appreciated.

Mine should be arriving tomorrow based on tracking!

Yeah also added EOTF boost HDR option, I think that wasn't there last time either, so if that's not impacted by ABL like the X50, so much those are some nice firmware updates.

The 24 hour notice was already on the monitor so I guess it got some of the earlier firmware updates.
