BMW and M Power Owners

The dealer can still do it for you - they just do it online using the "I have the V5C/2 new keeper supplement (green slip)" option using your details as if they were you.

This was done when we bought our AUC Countryman last year, with the Tax amount just included within the main car invoice

Yeah, unless something has changed since April, with my most recent purchases having the dealer process the tax for you has still been an option.

I had to pay it... Only got just over half of thank of fuel, cheapskates. I did get a keyring and a coffee mug though. :p

BMW Sytner paid for full 12 months, this was after the new rules regarding Vehicle Tax were introduced.

Lucky to get that - back in the day used to get at least half a tank if not a full one, lately it is more like 40 miles worth of fuel.

Dealers doing the tax online as you collect the car, as I just had, seems logical to avoid being contributory to any illegality.

a dealer ensuring the tax/ved is payed as you collect a new car (as I did on last purchase)
seems logical as it avoids the new owner illegally not paying it immediately, and, any uncertainty on when the car was purchased & taken possession of.
what's the problem

I’d be amazed if a dealer would allow a vehicle to leave without being taxed and insured.

This is probably a stupid question but I can't find a definitive answer.

What's the difference between Sport and Sport Plus for the engine and transmission. I guess one affects the throttle response and one how it holds gears but then you can also knock the gear selector to the left for Sport?

This is what ChatGPT says:

I mean that definitely is not correct for all BMWs. I'm not even sure it is correct for any single BMW.

I doubt the buttons change the engine map to change the torque delivery in any vehicle.

All it does is change the throttle mapping. So pressing the pedal is pressed 20%, it now becomes the same as pressing the pedal 40% etc.

I'm also skeptical of more or "maximised" boost.

edit:

I asked for it's sources.

Here's the M340i...

Vis, Comfort and Tech packs - I think from the spec the things it doesn't have are.. adaptive cruise control, electric seats and sunroof which we didn't want. Week off a 21 plate, paid £33k for it. The main selling point was the condition its in and the fact that it had 0 repairs, paint everywhere is original. Albeit only having 30k miles it has 4 services, most M340i we saw had 1-2 services under 40k miles. If it wasn't for the fact time wasn't on our side, I reckon, I could have worked them to a better deal. £800 off the final price isn't bad though, right? Our old 3 series, I haggled 1.2k off along with Tax, full tank and 2 services. (different times I suppose...)

Big improvement over the M140i, I went to visit my mate who has a S500L, we went for a quick spin in it after doing a quick drive in the M340i. The S500L from 2006, wasn't as comfortable as a IS300H with the ventilated seats. I think the perfect car for me would be a M340i, but built with Lexus quality, materials and comfort.

The Bridgestones Runflats need to go, I forgot how bad runflats are... I'll most likely go for Conti SP7. I know, I'm a hypocrite, but seriously, Lexus has blown my mind, if only the entertainment system, drivetrain and design wasn't so bad...
