What film did you watch last night?

Pig - 7/10.

I never knew I needed a truffle farming, master chef’ing, fight club patron Nicholas Cage film in my life, but now I have it whether I like it or not! Topped off by a turn from a villainous ex-Chicago Hope doctor.

I actually enjoyed it quite a lot! :)
I liked this a lot too. Nicholas Cage is always a good watch :p

28 Years Later - 6/10

I really, really wanted to like this more. It started off great, but the back end of the film just descended into weirdness leaving more questions than answers. I get the very last scene was meant as a lead into the next film but I dunno, it just didn't work for me. Felt like I was suddenly watching some modern take on A Clockwork Orange!

Shame as there were some really great set pieces in the film too.

Watched The Axiom on Tubi.
low budget supernatural horror, a bit slow but well made and the cast are good for unknowns.
I feel like the people who made the until dawn movie might have seen this and lifted a few ideas.
Overall worth a watch if you like indie horrors.
6.5/10

Sinners (2025)

Everything about this film exudes quality, it looks great, sounds great. The acting is good, the dialogue is natural and authentic. Yet it never really adds up to anything exceptional, yet it's still worth watching.

For all the qualities this films has, it ends up being a very ordinary or unoriginal vampire film. Definitely has aTarantino influence in my mind, with the big fight scene reminding me of From Dusk till Dawn and Django Unchained

6.5/10

Exhuma 2024 - Korean horror flick that was quite unique where its basically about a wealthy family who wanted to reorient the resting place of a loved one for Fung Shui which unexpectedly unleashes something more. While its not overly horrifying like the ring, it does have some interesting elements which produces exciting moments. Without spoiling it too much it was enjoyable enough but i would think it might not fit to everyone tastes. I would definitely recommend if you like Korean Drama or Asian culture as well as good old fashion horror story. 6.5/10.

The Amateur - 5/10

Well, that was two hours of a film.

Okay, so it's not terrible. Certainly not The Great Wall. But it doesn't really do much well, either. The supporting cast are variously either pretty bland or Laurence Fishburne, though Caitríona Balfe's accent does have a distracting wobble about it heading from Russia to East Germany and back. Oh, and Jon Bernthal's character The Bear just seems to wander in and out of the story for no real reason. I wonder if more of him ended up on the cutting room floor.

Occasional plot weirdness abounds. One example:

The bad CIA bosses have sent Laurence Fishburne's Henderson after Rami Malek's Charlie. The good CIA boss sends another agent after Henderson. Henderson and this agent have a clash that lets Charlie escape leaving Henderson shot and bleeding on the laundry room floor and the other agent dead/merely unconscious and beat to hell. At the end of the movie Henderson is all healed up and free as a bird. No mention of if he got into any trouble for the less-than-sanctioned mission going after Charlie or the fight with the other agent. Just a pop in, hey, how you doin', good on ya kid and out again.

Really though the movie is full of half-formed ideas and plots, that meander along until it finally ends.

Yeah, we watched this over the weekend and the cast have all done much better work. The script doesn't really do them any favours and the plot didn't feel fully formed.

I couldn't work out the point of Jon Bernthal's character either :)

I watched Ballerina last night. I thought it was very enjoyable expanding the lore. A lot of the original JW characters are in there. As accustomed there were some great fight scenes and gunplay. Ana De Armas character is good with decent back story which is part of the expansion as is the Norman Reedus character. Was it John Wick? No, but it wasnt really trying to be. But there are a lot of elements in there from the movies.

7.5-8/10

Jurassic World : Rebirth - 2/10 would not watch again.

The fact it takes them an hour to actually get into any Dinosaur stuff is criminal, the characters are woeful and written in such a non likeable way that you are willing for them all to meet a T-Rex inspired end.
The whole premise of the film doesn't work, there some god tier levels of insane stupidity on show and the action sequences dont offer any tension at all.

I wanted to leave early I hated it that much and but my wife insisted we stay until the end and when we got out she also stated she hated every second of it

I thought it was ok but it just seemed to drag on for way too long, the story was ok.

Loved this film.

Tonight i watched 'Bring her back'

From the brothers that made 'Talk to me' this is one a little more violent and gory for me.

About 2 teenagers who are step brother and sister. Their father dies and they end up in a foster home with a woman who is not all she seems.

Won't say too much.

Decent watch 7.5/10
