BMW and M Power Owners

I don't bother with this because it's the same price as Tesco generally and 97 instead of 99, so may as well just use Tesco unless it isn't convenient.
Sainsburys is literally 30 seconds from home so that's my reasoning. If I'm feeling flush I'll travel an extra minute to Shell! Oh, and I have an Amex Nectar card, so points...

Fair point, is that the norm for 3rd paty warranty then?

I'll give BMW a call later

I looked into them before and I could always find some kind of “get out of jail free card” embedded in the T&Cs, usually associated with labour rates.

One of the best rated ones would only provide £100+VAT max.

My local specialists are well north of that, so I’d be out of pocket considerably if I needed the work doing, making the warranty pointless.

Those of you with M340i and M2/M3's etc. what fuel do you use for daily use?
I run 98 in the M2. I get discounts through my fuel card so it's not the end of the world. Also local Esso offers 98 at almost the same price as 95 at weekends so a no-brainer. 95 in Belgium is E10 only FWIW.

Went to Germany last week, had to fill up with E5 95 as the village I found had no SUL. I then filled it with Aral 102 and I'm convinced the car was more responsive, especially at autobahn speeds. Could have been placebo but pretty sure it was happier on the good stuff.

Do people generally stick to BMW parts for brakes or are there better out there?

The M140 will need some new pads all around soon and wondering if there's anything better out there for the money.

You could go for the OEM version. Have a feeling it was Zimmerman for the discs on the M Sport brakes but I’m sure there will be someone more knowledgeable to confirm or correct :-)

It would be good to understand what you mean by “better” too, as your standard brakes will be powerful enough to overcome the friction your tyres can provide, so getting “better” brakes won’t improve your maximum braking potential.

Genuine Discs are made by SHW for BMW performance vehicles with MSport and MPerformance brakes, pads will depend on what you use the car for.

Sorry, I meant better for the money as they're obviously going to be made by someone else, slapped in a BMW box and marked up horrendously.

Not tracking the car, just every day driving really.

Then I’d go for OEM, for which someone will be able to confirm who manufactures them for BMW - I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Did you have standard (grey) brakes or the upgraded (blue) ones?

The engine is mapped for the higher octane fuel so it this isn't a surprising outcome.

Checked with Warrantywise before renewing the BMW one. They wanted nearly £900 for the equivalent BMW warranty which was just over £500. I’d also be worried about all sorts of exclusions and get outs with the unofficial warranty, or them insisting on it not being sent to BMW.

I'm on my second BMW now and not had issues with the standard brake pads so would also say replace with OEM If you can. :) over the years in various cars I have had various 3rd party pads from ebc redstuff, yellowstuff, mintex, pagid and brembo. I think my favs were the brembo pads. Good pedal feel and not noisy. The mintex ones I had squealed unless heated. Ebc were ok, yellows were dusty!

Out looking for another car as my written off M5 Comp has been resolved. Ive found a potential car but Im not sure on the colour combo, Marina Bay Blue and Taruma Brown Leather yay or nay?

Marina Bay Blue = yay.

The brown leather, hmm, you'd have to see it in person. It's more interesting than black at least...

Yeah Marina Bay blue is a great colour, if it was sliverstone leather then it would be a definite but unsure about the brown with the blue. I do love a saddle brown interior on the right car though
