BMW and M Power Owners

Has anyone upgraded the clutch on a manual g87 m2? I’ve been told I need an aftermarket clutch to achieve around 800hp. I’m currently on the stock clutch stage 1 610bhp 720nm.

Out looking for another car as my written off M5 Comp has been resolved. Ive found a potential car but Im not sure on the colour combo, Marina Bay Blue and Taruma Brown Leather yay or nay?
If it ticked all other boxes in terms of spec I'd probably go and check it out.

Worst video quality ever, but the car in general looks stunning. If the 8s weren’t a total depreciation disaster, I would have one. No wait, if they weren’t a depreciation disaster I couldn’t afford to have one…. arrragh. Enjoy the test drive. Let’s us know what you think.

Those of you with M340i and M2/M3's etc. what fuel do you use for daily use?
Although not a an M specific engine, I use a mix of 95 and 99. Barely notice a difference tbh, and these aren't race engines, they will run fine on 95

It's a 380bhp turbocharged engine. It's not a race engine but neither is it a 2 litre 4 cylinder with 130bhp.

If the manufacturer recommends a fuel grade for best operation, there will be a reason for it. BMW only recommend 98 Octane fuel for good reason - the 3 series owners manual says the rest of the petrol range runs on 95 but specifically highlights that the M Performance version should run 98.

Why would they say that if there wasn't a reason for it?

It might be specific to the higher output version of this engine which your car doesn't have. I don't know what the manual recommends for yours.

Thinking about ringing up BMW Sytner to check, i had been stuck on stop start traffic in 34oC heat today, the oil temp was normal in the middle, but when i eventually got out of traffic and near my home the car felt so down on power

Isnt the fan supposed to kick in when your in a long period of stop start traffic? could i contact BMW and get them to validate the fan is actually working to cool the engine?

I have had BMW's in the past where the fan doesnt seem to work and in hot weather it would be really down on power epecially after being in traffic

What is the model of the car?

The fan should be running at low speed with the aircon on all the time in 34c heat.

With a turbo charged car you are going to heat soak, I found it noticeable when driving in Europe until some airflow cooled it down (fan was working fine). With no fan working I’d expect it to overheat pretty quickly in traffic.

What is the model of the car?

BMW 420D Coupe - 2018 - BMW Warrenty until April next year

Nothing was on the dash in terms of lights, but it felt a bit hot and was power reduced, put your foot down and it was hardly much power after coming out a stint of traffic in 33-34oC heat

Went to see the M8 and the Marina Bay Blue is such a fantastic colour and the M8 is a much prettier car compared to the M5. I was still unsure about the Taruma Brown but when I saw it in the flesh I thought it was really nice but was 95% there. Took it out for a test drive, the interior was immaculate and the whole car felt new which is not surprising with only 14k miles on the clock and the interior grew on me as it’s a bit different too. The car is quieter inside compared to the M5, overall felt more luxurious.

I was going to get the local Sytner to get a black M8 down from Leicester but decided that black is boring compared to the blue so put a deposit down on it. Just awaiting the insurance money to come through and get it bought.
