Proper councilled it up!!At least they aren't BK Racing BK171 I suppose, I'd have had an aneurism.
Also T1Rs suck! TR1 is better but they have a directional tread pattern that ends up being backwards on one side.
I had them on my T5. They were definitely better than the T1R but yeah. One side channelled water to the centre of the tyre and the other channelled it away. Its like they engineered the tread pattern but then forgot that it would work in reverse on one side. Bizarre. I also thought they wore rather fast...
205 50 15 can also look good on an E30, as can a fatter tyre, so play around with different sizes to see if availability improves.
I've had all sorts of weird and wacky tyres on the E30 because what I could actually buy was so limited. At one point it had a set of Federal Formoza AZ01 on it, currently it has Kumho HS51. I think before the Federals I had Vredesteins, and before that Firestones... At one point it had some part worn AD08Rs on it because they were all I could find quickly that were the right size!![]()
Been looking for ages for a set of BBS but the design / style I want in 4x100 hardly ever appear for sale or are 4-5k if they do.
Researched all the options and a local gentlemen with an E30 had these and as they are like ten years old and still look spot on said to me good quality and my 15” BBS with tyres are 15.9kg each and these are 16.8kg so a kilo heavier I feel is ok for bigger wheel and tyre.
Most of all design I wanted and £400!
How do you find the HS51?
I’m tempted to put a 225/45/16 on rear and still well within the arches.
But the front is on the limit with an 8” wheel as the 215/45/16 Pirelli Summer tyre is marginally stretched but sits really nice and does not protrude front arch. But the other side front is a 215/45/16 Dunlop all season and even though technically same size it has a much wider front print and far bulkier side wall causing it protrude from arch a look I’m not fond off is the wheel / tyre protruding beyond body line.
As all the tyres are old I want them gone but the fronts are very sensitive and want to resist a tyre that may protrude in front.
I can see in 215/45/16 HS51 and HS52 seem available so wondered what size your running and how is the tyre wall?
I drive quite spiritedly and they seem fine, I have no complaints, they haven't wowed me or scared me, they're just decent tyres.
IMO Kumho is the cheapest brand you can buy from and still get something pretty okay.
I have them in the standard size. 205 55 15.
Got a set of shinier slightly bigger wheels for the E30, always fancied some polished wheels on the car:

The tyres are over ten years old and I feel a little stretched at 215/45/16 plus unsafe.
Stock size was 205/55/15 and the closest match rolling radius is 225/45/16 so will get some fresh boots in that size though it’s a very limited size with not so great tyres either Nankang or Toyo.
Only other option is try to find some wider foot print 215/45/16 tyres the photographed side are Dunlop winter/all season and don’t appear stretched but other side is Pirelli summer tyres same size but like stretched. Wheels are 8” wide so will run square setup same as stock which are 7.5” all round.
To be honest my 15” are Toyo T1R and I find the grip good in dry, slippy in wet but it’s a dry weather car. So TR1 is newer and better than what I had so may just get those in the size I want
Over moon with looks!![]()
